Manny Pacquiao: Pacquiao to Face Marquez If He Beats Shane Mosley
Breaking news from ESPN.com, as their terrific boxing writer, Dan Rafael, writes that Manny Pacquiao's promoters have made an offer to Juan Manuel Marquez in the fall.
According to ESPN, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said Monday that Top Rank has made a formal, written offer for Marquez, the lightweight champ, to challenge Pacquiao for his welterweight title on a date to be determined in October -- assuming Pacquiao beats Shane Mosley, of course, when the two meet on May 7 for the WBO welterweight title.
This is what Marquez has always wanted, a third fight with Pacquiao after the two fought a pair of controversial bouts at two different weight classes.
The two fought to a controversial draw in a 2004 featherweight championship fight and a controversial split decision win in their 2008 junior lightweight title fight.
