UFC 129 Predictions: Jose Aldo Over Mark Hominick for UFC Featherweight Title
Only two things have kept Jose Aldo from that hallowed ground reserved for the best of the best, all-time gladiators like UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva, UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre and UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones (once he gets a few more wins under his bejeweled belt).
Both are rooted in the 145-pound waters known as the UFC featherweight division.
For years, Aldo dominated the off-the-grid ranks of the WEC since the UFC's smallest class was lightweight. That relative obscurity kept many of his early feats in the shadows and created Junior's second problem—lack of knowledge regarding his prey.
Since the casual fan was unfamiliar with the WEC, he/she was also unfamiliar with the cannon fodder facing the young Brazilian.
That's changing gradually and the average fan is beginning to notice this little holy terror as he's unleashed more frequently in front of the UFC fanbase. The 24-year-old also known as Scarface combines an unrelenting savagery with unfair accuracy and versatility to reduce his opponents to ugly and often unconscious messes.
Only Urijah Faber has survived the full five rounds against Aldo and the experience cost him the use of his left leg for a few days (this is what the California Kid looked like a day later).
I don't expect the Machine to join Faber in that exclusive club especially since Hominick seems destined to try to strike with Scarface.
That's a bad idea, a really bad idea; Aldo by stoppage before the end of the second round.
