UFC 129 Predictions: Nate Diaz Over Rory MacDonald on Spike TV
The second fight to be aired on Spike TV sees Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu's second competitor of the event, Nate Diaz, stepping into the cage with 21-year-old Canadian up-and-comer Rory "The Waterboy" MacDonald.
MacDonald is looking to get back in the win column after suffering his first defeat in 11 trips to the cage, a TKO (strikes) loss to Carlos "The Natural Born Killer" Condit at UFC 115 in his last outing. The Waterboy earned Fight of the Night honors, but will be hungry for the victory on his native soil.
Meanwhile, Diaz will also be trying to reverse course after an L in his most recent appearance in the Octagon. Nick's younger brother at 26 years old, Nate dropped a unanimous decision to Dong Hyun "Stun Gun" Kim at UFC 125 and will be trying to avoid a consecutive defeat for only the second time in his career.
Both warriors are comfortable handling matters on their feet or taking the issue to the ground and both will be desperate for the victory, but Nate should have an advantage in the standup unless MacDonald's reach is considerably in excess of his 5'11" height.
Diaz boasts a 76-inch reach and that should be enough of decisive edge in an otherwise even clash. Take Nate either by third-round TKO or unanimous decision.
