NHL, NHL Atlantic, Pittsburgh Penguins, Evgeni Malkin

Evgeni Malkin is not an All-Star.

Isn't Evgeni Malkin the secret weapon of the Pittsburgh Penguins?

If Pens fans are looking for a nickname for this kid “Secret Weapon” would be more then fitting.

Malkin got a hat trick for the second time in 11 games, this time against the Rangers.

Has anybody else accomplished this feat this season? If so, let me know.

Malkin has secretly led the Penguins in goals with 23 and is in the top 10 in the league in goals.

Apparently Malkin is so secret that he wont be attending the All-Star game.

Instead, Malkin will be sitting at home while currently sitting 13th in league scoring. Gomez, on the other hand, will be going to the All-Star game even though he currently sits 37th in the league in scoring.

You can argue that Malkin is now on a line with Crosby. Well, Gomez has been playing with former Pens great, Jagr since the start of the season.

Why is Malkin not going to this year’s All-Star game?

Will Malkin be one of those quiet superstars, like a Ronny Francis?

If anybody knows why Malkin was overlook for this year’s All-Star game I would really like to know.

  1. I agree with you. It's a shame NHL fans will not get the opportunity to watch Malkin showcase his talents at this year's All Star Game. He, alongside Sidney Crosby, were the two most dominant players on the ice last Monday against the Rangers. If you happened to see the game, he and Crosby had the puck on a string for nearly a minute in the offensive zone in the second period. It was spectular to watch. Plus, Malkin is tied for 11th in goal scoring with 23 goals. The selection process needs to be addressed.

  2. Gomez was horrible at the start of the season. I can't recall the last time I seen a re-play with Gomez. Like you mentioned Dino Malkin and Crosby are probably they best 1 2 punch so far.
    Thanks for the comment.

  3. Malkin has managed to put together 4 different point-scoring streaks, all of which were 5 games or over, including a 15-game point streak from October 23rd. to November 22nd

  4. The reason is that the pens already had 2 people going and they wanted other teams represented.

It's the same thing with Mats Sundin, Marc Savard, Micheal Rozival, Daniel Briere aren't there. Hey how about Henrick Lundqvist?

Or Mike Ribeiro who is the 7th leading scorer in the west and Kristian Huselius who is the 9th leading scorer in the West.

Brad Boyes (25 goals), Corey Perry (24 goals), even Patrick Sharp (22 goals, 7 shorthanded).

JASON ARNOTT is 50th in the league in scoring.

    It's all a joke.

  5. Mats is a mystery, why he didn't make it.

  6. the dude dont know what he is talkin about sayin that the pens have to many people goin already.... hey ass look at the western conf..... take a look at the starting line up,,,,, they have 3 ppl from Det. But anyway it is a damn shame that he is not in it,,,,he should score 6 goals next game and do the soulja boy on the blue line,,, maybe he would then get the nhl's attention

  7. Malkin is being ripped off. I thought the league wanted to show of the young talent?Scott Gomez? come on now

  8. Malkin could make in it without Sid going. All-star game is a joke. Half the players are not even going. Might as well just give the league a weekend off.
