I am a typical Filipino who worships Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and his boxing prowess, but him fighting Oscar De La Hoya is another story. As much as I would like to see my fellow Pinoy brother win against the golden boy, I just know deep down that De La Hoya will win.
I know I will see my man get destroyed, just like Arturo Gatti got destroyed by De La Hoya awhile back. It would take some sort of miracle for Pacquiao to win against De La Hoya and his great height advantage, power, and brilliance in the ring. For goodness' sake, Pacquiao could barely beat Juan Manuel Marquez—what's going to happen against a taller, stronger, and smarter foe?
This is my first article, so please take it easy on the criticism!

WOW Christopher!!!! I take my hat off you. All of the Filipinos I've read in web sites, you my friend are the most intelligent one. I admire your honesty, which not your countrymen appear to have. Yeah, this fight is a clear mismatch. But I'm not giving De la Hoya credit for this though. Fightin' Pacquiao, a good fighter but way too small for the 147lbs, is just a cowardly move right there.
And about what you said of Marquez, I also respect you man. The majority believes Pacquiao blew Marquez off as if was KO or UD. I was rootin' for Marquez, but I accept Pacquiao's victory in their rematch. See? Those are the fighters Pacman should be involved, not bigger, more framed opponents like De la Hoya. This are the fights that are killin' boxin'.

Thank you very much! It is sad that the sweet science is going the way it's going man. I really think this fight could end up damaging the sport of boxing if pacquiao really gets hurt. The only money fighters I see today really are Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams, but everybody is scared shitless to fight them.

If they were the same height and weight Manny would wipe the floor with the golden boy, this is coming from a neutral perspective as I support neither but have watched both plenty of times, I think the size difference could make it a v.good fight, im going with Pac Man on points decision all the same but it will be close.

I agree, it will be pretty scary for Pacman BUT....you never know. mis-match or not...anything can happen in a pro fight....I know this is a bit extreme but Mike Tyson fought many fighters that were way taller and bigger but he got the job done...Anyway, it will be an awesome fight....beer,oysters and bbq at my place on Dec 6th!!!
Regardless of the outcome, Filipino Fighters are coming up not only in boxing, but MMA, Muay Thai etc (even in MTV's Best Dance Crew, haha)...its about time we become "News Worthy" and get past the "Social Norm"

Before i'm also wandering if Manny is foolish or greedy enough to fight Oscar de la Hoya. But Manny closed his eyes, Oscar surrenders to Pacman's brilliance. being filipino has nothing to do with anything-- pacquiao's talent stems from hard work-- he went the extra mile training for this fight and was completely focused
for a while before the fight i thought pacquiao would lose to the bigger man but when they met in the ring pacquiao was only shorter-- he was actually the bully being heavier in muscle mass
i guess many who pitched for the size advantage forgot that meeting in the ring dictates that the opponents also meet in weight--

hey..#1: Oscar Delahoya. All the respect and credits to dlh, he WAS an incredible fighter, but dlh needs to hang the gloves, he should contain his dignity, and dlh can still have some left after what manny did to him. #2: miss match. How can ppl say it was a miss match?, ppl need to look clowser to manny and how he fights, look at hes speed, movement, stamina, power and above all he's will to win. DLH, so what if he's bigger and he has longer range?, "the golden boy" is gone long time ago, and evenso manny still would have won, he has a bigger heart and will to win. #3: The fight. I knew manny would bite he's head off, it was obvious manny would win it maybe not with K.O., but out box him totally like he did. In my openion it was a BS fight. #4: Pac man underestimated. I am making this comment after the fight Dec 6
But I would like to express the sentiments I had prior to the fight.
I am a Filipino and followed Pacman and De La hoya's careers in boxing. I am fully aware of the possibility of DLH bullying Pacman during the fight but I know Pacman quite well having seen his training regimen, his heart of a lion. I was also fully aware how DLH can easily drift away from fight plan as evidenced from his fight with Trinidad and Mayweather. He's weak-minded while Pacman is strong-willed.
I knew all along, together with Freddie Roach's feelings that Manny can pull it off and I even made predictions Manny will KO Oscar in the late rounds (9th or 10th round) - due to the fact that DLH can easily tire in later rounds while Manny can continue on until 20th round. I considered the possibility that Manny could be knocked down in the early rounds (due to maybe committing mistakes), but I thought he would get up and stride until the later rounds where he will go for the kill when DLH is mostly weak, both physically and mentally.
The fight Dec 6th showed DLH was weak-minded from the introduction to the ring up to the point when the fight was stopped. I never lost faith in Pacman.

I bet you feel stupid now. Golden Boy just got his career packaged away. He could not even look Manny in the eyes when the got into the center of the ring. He got OUT BOXED! let alone not being able to handle his speed. It was 8 rounds of destruction, I called a 9 round KO about to happen to De La Hoya exactly like Diaz. But Oscar saved his humiliation by throwing the towel in before he could kiss the canvas good night. I guess he was already embarassed enough. Not taking anything away from Oscar he has had a legendary career but Manny Pacqiao is the BEST POUND FOR POUND boxer in the world right now. Oscar is finished. When Manny put on the weight for the fight he put on 20 lbs of pure muscle and still maintained his speed. He's only going to get better in the next 5 to 6 years. Now if someone can pull out Floyd Mayweather out of retirement to prove Manny truly is the best than that would be the greatest fight in the world because we all know Manny would smoke Ricky Hatton. Floyd barely beat Oscar and Manny just made Oscar look like a walk through a park.
