Like most college football pundits, our predictive abilities were about as inconsistent as the teams themselves in 2007.
Fortunately, we have the sense of humor necessary to take a retrospective look at some of our highs and lows.
Here you'll find a sampling of our brilliance and our brain cramps, starting with a before-and-after look at the Bleacher Report Top25...
Best
Regarding Lloyd Carr... "Beat Ohio State. Win a BCS game. Or make a change." 8/29/07
"The Buckeyes won’t be tested by a ranked team until they travel to Penn State in late October. By then, the six new starters on both offense and defense will have plenty of game experience and probably a healthy dose of confidence." 8/29/07
"It feels like Texas is just keeping a seat warm [in our top 10] until another program earns it." 9/19/07
"Thankfully, in college football, #2 is just as good as #1, and LSU has to be content to fight for that second slot for the foreseeable future." 9/19/07
"The Badgers haven’t given us any reason to believe they can challenge Ohio State... The nation’s longest winning streak starts conference play on life support." 9/19/07
"[Defensive] Touchdown Charlie and the boys showed signs of life in Pasadena, but Matt Ryan is a far cry from McLeod Bethel-Thompson." 10/10/07
"Perhaps the best way to summarize the last couple weeks of the college football season: Your best bet was a bye." 10/10/07
"Last November, Louisville took a Top-10 ten ranking to New Jersey, only to see their national championship hopes dashed on national television. South Florida will have to avoid a similar mid-week, prime-time upset." 10/17/07
"Mangino is the first opposing head coach to outweigh [Texas A&M running back] Jorvorskie Lane since Pee Wee league, and that could tilt the scales in Kansas’ favor this weekend." 10/24/07
"Oklahoma’s average margin of victory in seven in-state games this season is +38. In three games outside the Sooner borders, OU is +5, with a record of 2-1. That doesn’t exactly make the Crimson and Cream a prime candidate to be LSU’s guest in January." 11/14/07
"With two losses, the Dawgs’ national championship aspirations are unrealistic. So why run the risk of losing a third game [in the SEC Championship] and missing out on the BCS altogether? It’s the fuzzy logic that can only exist in college football." 11/14/07
"The Big 12 undoubtedly deserves two BCS invitations—the maximum allowed any member conference. But cynics like me can see it coming already: Despite winning the North, Mizzou will miss out on college football’s most lucrative party if they fall [in the conference championship game]." 11/28/07
"Assuming LSU wins convincingly, doesn’t a two-overtime-loss program deserve a title try more than Ohio State…and more than a Georgia team that didn’t even earn the right to play for the SEC title…and more than a Kansas squad that played a schedule half as challenging…and more than the Hokies they smoked head-to-head? The leap from No. 7 to No. 2 in the BCS is improbable at best. But intuitively, the champion of the best conference in football should be playing on the final night of the season." 11/28/07
Worst
"If [Colt McCoy's] numbers are anywhere near as good this season, the Longhorns will be tough to keep out of the BCS Championship game." 8/29/07
"The Big East’s BCS berth will be handed out November 8th following the West Virginia - Louisville slugfest. It remains to be seen whether that ticket will take the winner to Miami or New Orleans in January." 8/29/07
"Junior DeSean Jackson made an early case for the Heisman by taking his first punt return of the season to the house. Classmate Nate Longshore looked like the second coming of Aaron Rodgers, throwing for 241 and a pair of touchdowns." 9/5/07
"The Golden Bears were able to avoid a letdown and win on the road last week in Fort Collins—a sign that they’re maturing into a championship contender." 9/12/07
"But the Big East still doesn’t command enough respect to put a one-loss team in the national championship game—which is why this Friday night’s game at South Florida could prove to be the Mountaineers' biggest of the season." 9/26/07
"Stanford was the last team to beat the Trojans at the Coliseum—six years and 35 games ago. Chances are the Cardinal won’t be the team to bookend the nation’s longest home winning streak." 10/4/07
"USC’s loss to Stanford virtually guaranteed Cal a share of the Pac-10 crown for the second consecutive season." 10/10/07
"In terms of conference standings, [USC and Oregon] have already stumbled, meaning Saturday’s loser will be eliminated from Pac-10 and BCS Championship contention." 10/24/07
"[Oregon] appears to be getting the breaks that are characteristic of a BCS title run." 10/31/07
As always, we vow to do better next year. Until there's a playoff...

Michael, those preseason rankings are a before and after look at this past season.
Meaning at the preseason this PAST season that is what bleacherreport.com predicted, then those are the finals as well.

I wish I had a ballot for a final vote but for some reason I didn't. The Top 25 was a lot of fun all year long and I look forward to contributing next year as well. It was a lot of fun and you did an awesome job with the write-up's Trey. Enjoy the offseason!

Michael, those preseason rankings were our preseason ones at the beginning of this season. As you can see we thought a lot higher of Georgia at the end of the year than we did at the beginning.

Thanks for putting this together Trey. It's important to be able to take a look back and fully digest how unpredictable the season ended up being, and laugh at some of the things that at the time seemed logical and believable, but in hindsight are rather amusing...
Honestly though, of the top 10 teams in the preseason, six of them finished in the top 10 when all was said and done. Given the craziness of the BCS this year, that really ain't too bad.
I want to thank all of our college football contributors for bringing the goods throughout the season. The analysis in both articles and discussions was of a consistently superb quality...a lot of very insightful people weighed in throughout the season and from a personal perspective, it was definitely the most fun I've had following college football in a long time.
And now we wait till next year...college hoops anyone?
