Vin Scully said it best, "The Cubs are dead." Despite 97 wins, the Chicago Cubs got swept by Manny's Dodgers of LA. Although the season is over there is a still a race for the Cubs; club ownership.
Rumor has it, Zell is expected to complete the transaction before the new year. With 100 years without a championship, Zell will be hard-pressed to get the record-breaking deal he wants. Mark Cuban still leads all bidders, but the second round is still up ahead. With the failing of the economy, and the instability of Wall Street, Tom Ricketts may not be able to surpass Cuban with the winning bid.
