Norm MacDonald's Sports Show on Comedy Central Visits UFC Event (Video)
Norm MacDonald’s new Sports Show on Comedy Central debuted just over a week ago and has already begun picking up steam.
On last night’s episode, the show created a bit in which MacDonald’s “nephew,” Kyle, attended an unnamed UFC event, and interviewed various fans and celebrities including UFC ring girl Arianny Celeste and actress Jaime Pressly.
The actor, Kyle Mooney, is known for his work on the Los Angeles-based sketch group, Good Neighbor, which has nearly 100,000 subscribers on YouTube.
The event wasn’t specifically mentioned in the piece, but the clips were actually from UFC 121, which took place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, last October. This was well before Sports Show with Norm MacDonald began taping, but the sequence is hilarious nonetheless.
This was the second time in as many episodes that the show has mentioned mixed martial arts in some fashion. In the show’s first episode, MacDonald joked about how the Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Extreme Cagefighting had officially merged earlier this year to create a new sport called, “murder.”
While it is a comedy show before it is a true sports show, the increased media attention is great for the UFC and MMA as a whole.
