Brock Lesnar vs. JDS: TUF 13 on Spike TV—Ramsey Nijem Defeats Charlie Rader
In between rounds, Brock Lesnar tells his fighter that this is “for real” and I’ve got to say I agree with the advice. Charlie Rader basically seemed like he was content to let Ramsey Nijem win that first round so long as he didn’t take any damage, which makes sense from a personal safety standpoint.
But not if you’re trying to win a six-figure contract with the UFC.
Unfortunately for Team Lesnar, the second round is unfolding very similarly to the first.
There’s a bit more back-and-forth in the early going, but Ramsey again flurries just enough to get close and grab Charlie. Rader mounts a better rally than he did in Round 1 and almost takes the dominant position, but that doesn’t last as Nijem eventually stabilizes before taking his adversary’s back.
From there, it’s just a matter of time. Team dos Santos’ locks in his hooks and works the position until he sees an opening for the RNC. Rader taps from the choke almost as fast as it was slapped on.
Ramsey Nijem defeats Charlie Rader by submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:31 of the second round.
Oooh, Charlie Rader won’t like that replay; he looked to be submitting before the choke was even tightened.
Meanwhile, Brock informs us that he knew his guy was gonna lose the minute Ramsey stepped in the cage.
So tough showing for Team Lesnar across the board.
