Brock Lesnar vs. JDS: TUF 13 on Spike TV—Charlie Rader vs. Ramsey Nijem, Rd. 1
Last word about those toenails before the gloves drop: it’s actually not that rare amongst fighters from what I can tell. Chris “The Crippler” Leben jumps to mind as a guy who does (or did) the same and I believe I’ve seen nail paint on others.
Weird? Yep. Unique? Nope.
Here we go...holy Moses, Nijem is only 22.
The duo touches gloves in the middle of the cage and then Ramsey comes punching forward. He doesn’t really try to land them as much as use the strikes to occupy Rader while he closed the gap for a shot/clinch. Charlie doesn’t look bothered by the proximity whatsoever, but this still wasn’t the Team Lesnar plan.
A few knees land from Nijem, but still nothing of real note from either competitor.
Still waiting for Ramsey’s control to materialize into offense, but it doesn’t before a low blow forces a momentary stoppage and subsequent separation. It doesn’t last too long as Nijem comes right back in an re-establishes the clinch.
More knees from Ramsey score points and little else, but he’s definitely winning the round and that was before he secured the elusive takedown. Now, it’s definitely Team dos Santo’s round.
A second takedown and some ground ‘n’ pound until the horn seals the 10-9 round for Ramsey Nijem.
