NBA Mock Draft 2011 Has Houston Rockets Selecting Shelvin Mack at Pick No. 23
Shelvin Mack may of had a forgettable Championship game for the Butler Bulldogs, but he is still worthy of a first-round pick.
Mack was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs in their six game tournament run and finished the season scoring 16 points a game for a team that focused on defense.
He can be a standout offensive player with his ability to score from all over the court. Nbadraft.net breaks it down further:
Strong jump shooter and mid-range game with a strong ability to create shots for himself off the dribble … Beautiful shooting motion with excellent lift, a smooth, quick release and excellent overall form … Has the physique of an NBA linebacker with huge shoulders and a barrel chest and uses his excellent body strength to his advantage … Great strength allows him to absorb contact and finish around the rim … Strength also gives him deep range and the ability to shoot with the same accuracy late in games.

A guard with Mack's strength shouldn't be overlooked considering he can make instant contributions in the NBA.
Good Fit or Bad Fit?
The Rockets are an above-average defensive team that needs some help on the other side of the ball. He can provide 20-25 minutes of action off the bench immediately for a Houston team that isn't too far from competing in the Western Conference. He has the potential to score 10-12 points a game his rookie season.
Chances of NBA Success: 55%
Mack may not have the potential of most players in the draft, but it's pretty obvious he is going to hold his own in the 'Association.
