2011 NFL Schedule Has the Giants Opening in Washington on 10th Anniversary of 9/11
Because the NFL released the team-by-team matchups for the 2011 season back in early January, we've known for a while now that the New York Giants and New York Jets are due to play a game at some point in the 2011 season. With the season due to open on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, many thought that was a likely date.
However, this is apparently not the case. The word from Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News is that the Giants are going to open their 2011 season on the road against the Washington Redskins on Sunday, September 11th. The Jets will open at home against the Dallas Cowboys in prime timelater that night.

As for when the Giants and Jets will play, a report says that they will play on Christmas Eve.
While Giants-Redskins isn't quite as juicy as Giants-Jets, the two teams are NFC East rivals. The Giants won both of their meetings last season.
