WWE Beyond Time and Space: Top 10 WrestleMania XXX Dream Matches

1 of 12

    Hello Bleachers.

Welcome to creative writer's heaven or what I'd like to call "Fantasy Land." With the recent release of WWE All-Stars video game and the upcoming draft on Monday night RAW next week, I started thinking what would be the all-time moments I would like to see in the ring?

Though there are many, I went and dusted off my "Phoenix Gate," went through time and space to bring all the people I think would give us truly the best value in sports entertainment.

It wasn't easy but I managed to arrive just in time for WrestleMania XXX set in Montreal, Quebec, this year because I milked Triple H's french heritage name for all it is worth. For those who don't know, his real name is Paul Michael Levesque. You don't get more "Québécois" than this.

I got nicely dressed too because the night before we all attended the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony to watch The Undertaker and Chyna get inducted.

What a night that was, but our work had just begun because I had the biggest night of my life the next day. All that planning, all those hours of hard work would lead to this moment.

Here is the match card for the (make-believe) 30th edition of WrestleMania. This is WWE, ladies and gentlemen, anything can happen! The sky is the limit...or is it really?

Opening Match: Divas Money in the Bank Ladder Match

2 of 12

It has never been done before. The divas are talented, sexy, smart and powerful. They deserve their chance to show us what they are made of.

    Enter the following "bombshells:"

    Melina

She is still strong and out of the dog house after therapy.

    Maryse

The hometown girl with the advantage of having the crowd behind her. Manages Alex Riley.

    Gail Kim

We need her here. She is a great talent.

    Natalya

I love Nattie. Represents the Hart family and she is Canadian.

    Mickie James

This history-making diva needs to leave TNA soon and come home.

    Kelly Kelly

Bet you she defeats Awesome Kong in reality to win her first Divas title.

    Tamina

Heir to the Snuka family. Hope they make use of her soon and as a heel again.

    Lita

She needs to be a guest star in this match. It was made for her.

Lots of action because of the presence of Lita, Mickie James and Gail Kim but as James climbs up and reaches for the briefcase, enter the sexy French goddess with a nice karate kick to the head.

Winner of the first divas MITB ladder match: Maryse

Clash of the Titans: Batista Takes on The Ultimate Warrior

3 of 12

This is a match I would have loved to see for ages. The Animal taking on the Warrior. Both are cut from the same cloth. Batista already said he pays homage to the Warrior when he enters the ring and shakes the ropes.

Remember this is outside time and space, so here you would see both powerhouses in their prime: Batista circa 2005 taking on an Ultimate Warrior from 1990.

Expect nothing technical here. Both would seek to destroy the other and dish out an immense amount of pain.

The Ultimate Warrior was my favorite superstar all throughout my childhood, and I watched his career unfold before my eyes religiously to the point of tears.

I was so upset when Rick Rude stole the Intercontinental championship from him back at WrestleMania V.

I never really liked Batista to be honest. Big and strong muscles like that just don't do it for me anymore.

Mind you I did enjoy his last heel run in 2010 and thus thought, if Warrior were here, then there would be none more worthy to challenge his might than the Animal himself.

In this video, Warrior defeats Batista but I have a dilemma trying to choose a winner. Although I love Ultimate Warrior for all the joy he brought me in my youth, I can never choose old over young and The Animal deserves the win just as much if not more for he has many more accolades and achievements.

I'll let YOU decide the winner.

Straightedge or Whoop Ass? CM Punk vs. Stone Cold

4 of 12

Who the hell designed this game and the superstars features? They look so over infused in helium it is not funny.

This is a match that could still happen here in the real world of 2011 and planet Earth. Recent Austin "tweets" state he would still have a few years left in him if needed be and a man whom he would love to face would be the Messiah of Straightedge, CM Punk.

Here is an actual "tweet" courtesy of WrestleZone.com writer Nick Paglino's article:

In a followup to the story, Punk tweeted the following: "I like how THQ acts like they don't know what would happen if @steveaustinBSR and I were to lock horns. Everybody knows. SXE > Beer."

So Straightedge is superior than beer, eh? I'm not so sure many of you readers would agree. We can agree on one thing though. Both are beloved characters by fans all over the world.

Stone Cold must be given the credit solely for making WWE the center of pro-wrestling universe. It is because of that one man and his infamous "Austin 3:16" line that Vince McMahon is a billionaire today.

Everyone who worked in the "Attitude" era deserves merit but Steve Austin was the face, the heart and the soul of the company in the late 90s.

CM Punk is a great performer. One of my top favorite superstars of the time. I cannot wait for him to capture the WWE championship. He deserves it and in this story he had it until Stone Cold cost him the title after Punk insults him.

Austin would accept the match and Punk would take the fight to him. I would enjoy a nice, long match between the two and have Stone Cold go over. The fans would love it. Everyone would go home happy and drunk after the beer bash that would take place in the ring afterwards.

    Winner: Stone Cold Steve Austin

Who Truly Is the Ninth Wonder of the World?

5 of 12

I went all the way back to 2000 to get one woman who could put an end to the destruction and carnage left by the passage of Kharma, formerly known as "Awesome Kong."

Kia Stevens is a monster, a phenom and she will rampage all over the divas division soon enough until the day she meets another force: "The Glamazon" Beth Phoenix.

I do not know the outcome and I don't want to speculate because I am waiting for it like a kid waits for Christmas morning. I love the divas and the division with be restore soon enough. That is in the present day.

Here is what could happen of you played with time and space like a film roll. We would have a great dream match already once Beth Phoenix and Chyna face off somewhere. A great match ensues, Beth Phoenix wins, she is the Glamazon.

Fast forward a little. Beth gets an injury at the hands of Kharma (she needs time off to have a baby or go to a Jean Grey convention I don't know, you pick) and the divas division is crushed under the heel of this monster athlete.

She declares herself the greatest female warrior of all time and claims she alone is the only wonder of the world. Nobody can beat her.

Enter Chyna. The only undefeated champion in history. She never lost the Women's championship, she left WWE altogether. The ninth wonder of the world and Playboy model represents what the divas are really, smart, sexy and powerful.

On the grandest stage on them all, Chyna challenges Kharma and states she is the ninth wonder of the world and there never was a 10th.

This match deserves all the time it needs. If it would happen, it would be great and done right with both Chyna and Kharma giving it all they've got. Chyna is deserving to be in the Hall of Fame, what a sendoff to have her face one of the great divas of her time, Kia Stevens.

Both are agile, athletic and share the same finishing maneuver: the powerbomb. After many of those sustain by both parties, no hair pulling and a low blow by a returning Beth Phoenix, Chyna delivers an ultimate "Chynabomb" from the second rope and pins the beast.

    There is only one.

Your winner: The ninth wonder of the world, Chyna

Afterwards, she passes the torch to both Phoenix and Kharma and the three receive a standing ovation.

Blink and You'd Miss It: "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Daniel Bryan

6 of 12

I went and borrowed a Randy Savage from 1988 for this one.

Who didn't enjoy the "Macho Man"? He had the ring skills, delivered killer promos and dressed like a star! On top of that, he was managed by the first lady of pro-wrestling, the lovely Miss Elizabeth, and she was a beauty.

I really enjoy Daniel Bryan in the ring. I think he is very talented and he is loved all over the Internet I hear. There would be a great match here for many reasons.

Let's take their gimmicks shall we:

Randy Savage is known as the "Macho Man." The bully.

Daniel Bryan is the "American Dragon." A nerd in recent WWE stories.

They are athletic, agile, high-flyers, accompanied to the ring by a beautiful woman and wear nice robes.

Daniel Bryan is a great technical wrestler while Randy Savage is witty and would capitalize on any opening. Both would seek that one little mistake and immediately profit off it to ensure victory.

I don't know about you but this is definitely something I would enjoy from beginning to end. All the spots, all the near-falls, I tell you, you'd blink one second and miss the whole thing.

May I say that one of the greatest matches of all time was Randy Savage vs. Rick Steamboat at WrestleMania III. It out-shined the main event match between Hogan and André.

If they were to put their minds to it, this match would be even better than Mania III.

In the end there could only be one winner and both are not above putting someone over when need be so..

Winner of the match: Daniel Bryan by submission

We Want Tables! We Want Ladders! We Want Chairs!

7 of 12

The following match starts with Howard Finkel in the ring all dressed up.

Ladies and gentlemen, this contest is for the WWE Tag Team championship and it is a tables, ladders and chairs match.

"You think you know me..." The people burst out of their seats as Edge and Christian make their way to the ring.

Together they have brought the tag team scene to heights never seen before and made this type of match a landmark. Edge had a fantastic career as in-ring performer and I would bet my shirt he isn't done with WWE yet.

I wondered what would I want to see him do if I could make anything happen. Why not pair him up again with his best friend Christian and have them compete at WrestleMania together again in their favorite match: TLC baby!

Now their opponents are two of the best up and coming stars on the roster today. They have so much promise. I feel we haven't seen anything yet even though they have held singles gold, the WWE champion ship mind you. In this scenario they are the Tag Team champions.

I am talking about Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.

There is no doubt they would be a great, cohesive unit who could restore prestige to the tag team division all the while building up the parts of their characters that seems to hold them back.

We already got a glimpse of their team at this year's Royal Rumble. They know each other well and are from the same region of the globe so there would be something to work with here.

So in this match you'd have one of the greatest tag teams ever taking on the savage, destructive force of the young McIntyre/Sheamus duo in the type of match where anything goes.

They've all met in the ring together. They've all been in ladder matches. McIntyre and Sheamus both won their first championships at the TLC pay per view in 2009 so it seems right to make a match like this.

I think it would be exciting to see a full power E&C taking on the best the UK (ok so Sheamus is Irish, same area of the globe) has to offer.

No technical wrestling here. Just action. Non-stop action.

Your winners and STILL WWE Tag Team Champions: Drew McIntyre and Sheamus

I want them to win because we already know what E&C can do and it is phenomenal. We have to look to the future, not the past. The young talent has all it takes to make it to the top.

It leaves only one word left afterwards: REMATCH!

Mr. Wrestlemania: Shawn Michaels vs. John Morrison

8 of 12

What would WrestleMania be without some sort of appearance by the Heartbreak Kid, the Showstopper, The Icon, The Main-Event, Shawn Michaels?

I hope never to see that. He has been inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. Now I anticipate him playing some sort of role somewhere down the line to hopefully appear next year in Miami.

When thinking about this match, I visited the WWE website and took a look at the current roster. There is great talent yes but who would I choose to help out the most were I Shawn Michaels? I went with John Morrison.

He really stands out as a character that could, if trained by the best, truly become an all-time great in the company. Put aside his recent issues with Trish Stratus and Melina, JoMo has what it takes. He just needs to work the character's verbal skills a little more.

Have the Heartbreak Kid take on a refined "Johnny Nitro" attitude John Morrison with all the glamour and Paparazzi you want. Shawn Michaels should take him under his wing personally. We've all heard the rumors and comparisons between the two so why not put both in a match together and see what happens.

    I just love that video.

Back to the match itself. There are similarities in their abilities and JoMo would profit greatly from the Michaels tutelage. Lots of back and forth action which leaves me to wonder, who would be the winner?

My pick for this one: Shawn Michaels

After such a great match I am sure, JoMo would have passed the test and be left to pursue his own destiny. He would have gained so much and not lost a thing.

The Heartbreak Kid would have given us the same great performance as always and helped build up a successor.

What do you think? Is there a little bit of Shawn inside the John Morrison we know and love?

Personal Pick: The Rock vs The Miz

9 of 12

Now that is what I want so see at WrestleMania XXVIII next year.

    Forget Rock vs Cena.

I would rather watch weeks of exchange and build up between Miz and Rock. You want entertainment then this is it.

The Rock is a world-renowned persona. A great WWE Champion MANY times over and worshipped by one man. His name: The Miz.

The Miz is the current WWE Champion and all over the media as of late. He defeated John Cena in his first WrestleMania main-event match.

These two could really create something magical here. I have had the pleasure of reading many articles and comments leading to speculate that this particular match would be enjoyed more than a Cena-Rock confrontation. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Cena-Rock, but it's not all that exciting is it?

We've noticed John Cena having a set number of moves in the ring. Now you can sometimes say the same thing about The Rock but the difference is Rocky has that little magic Cena doesn't have. Not right now with his Superman character anyway and that makes all the difference.

The Miz, doesn't have the big muscles of John Cena but he is creative and great to see and hear. He is a great heel and I think you could have a better show this way.

It's all about the show now and besides you can't fight twice in one night and on the same card I'd put Cena with The Undertaker for an as-impressive encounter.

Nobody knows what the superstars discuss when they meet to figure out their matches. How do they go about and figure out the winner? We know it is scripted but what are the stakes?

I've already mentioned that MIz is the future, not the only one but definitely the one worthy to be passed the torch to. He still has lots to learn and do but has come a long way so...

    Winner: The Miz

Here is a perfect place to have The Miz turn face, next to his icon and hero, The Rock. Hulk Hogan passed the torch to him and now he will do the same to his successor.

20-0: The Legacy of the Phenom

10 of 12

Thanks, John, for posting that on YouTube.

This is what the main event of WrestleMania  28 should be next year, not Cena vs. Rock. The Phenom is on his last run and needs to call it quits soon.

This isn't because he fails to deliver, not in the least, but because he has a wife and children and needs to stop before he can no longer lead a normal life.

Look at Edge. What happened to him should serve as a sign to all who would be in the same position dealing with injuries. In a perfect world, nobody should be finishing their career or life for that matter in a wheelchair.

With that said, we look ahead, anticipating what is to come. Who is left to challenge the streak? That honor rests only upon the shoulders of Captain WWE himself: John Cena.

I want to see it, you want to see it.

It is just as special, if not more, as a match with The Rock involved. What a way to send off The Undertaker with his 20th victory at WrestleMania over John Cena no less.

There is no fantasy booking here, no time travelling, nothing out of this world. This match would be history in the making. A confrontation of this caliber cannot be seen as less than the highest honor for both icons and would deserve the last match position of the card.

I hope this happens next year. It can you know because nothing is set in stone especially in WWE. Something should happen over the course of the year to make this match possible. If anything, the fact that Undertaker is 47 years old and on a stretcher should open some eyes somewhere.

There is no doubt The Phenom emerges as the victor. Scripted or not, I wouldn't want to mess with an angry 7-foot, 300 pound monster by the name of Mark Calaway even if I was John Cena.

Winner of the match and 20-0: The Undertaker

By the way...if Ric Flair can still go then Taker can wrestle as long as he wishes. I will always love this guy and nobody has the right to force you to quit unless you say so.

Who Will Be the Undisputed WWE Champion?

11 of 12

    WrestleMania

Almost 30 years of pure magic. It is an "out of this world" experience and hopefully someday it truly will be as the event could be broadcast LIVE from the Moon. Until it happens we have to look at all that has come to pass, all that is and prepare for what will be.

We need a united roster with someone to lead them into this new decade. We need the crowning of an undisputed, unquestioned World Champion.

With all that has transpired over the recent years, it is to wonder when a moment like this will ever take place again.

Not since Brock Lesnar have we seen a great, undisputed champion and because of his refusal to defend on RAW at the time, the WWE commissioned another title to make sure the entire roster was represented.

What a better way to come full circle again than to have a championship match on the grandest stage of them all pitting the WWE Champion (the real champion) against the World Heavyweight Champion to determine just who is the king.

This match would have the two top people at the moment and have another figure referee the whole thing.

Because this match is of such importance (and because I hope it happens in reality and not just fiction) many former WWE Champions are to be present at ringside, guarding a newly fashioned championship belt who would follow a new lineage. It would all start here.

    You would have at ringside:

    Bret Hart

    Steve Austin

    Shawn Michaels

    Ric Flair

    Hulk Hogan

    and...

Brock Lesnar, the last undisputed WWE Champion

Now as for the referee, there is no better person for the job than the very first undisputed WWE Champion: Y2J himself, Chris Jericho.

He would call it down the middle and it would be a great honor for him to be there during the crowning of the true king.

Now as for the defending champions who could we pick? We have to look ahead to the future. Who is young, talented and promising?

    What about:

The Miz (Face) vs. Alberto Del Rio (Heel)

Randy Orton (Face) vs Cody Rhodes (Heel)

CM Punk (Heel) vs The Miz (Face)

Alberto Del Rio (Face) vs Randy Orton (Heel)

These are the five superstars I see leading the future of the company. They are all young. Not a day older than 33 so plenty of great career moments still waiting to happen for them.

There must be only one. Now, then and tomorrow that is how it should be. Perhaps we will see it happen at the next WrestleMania in Miami or sooner, who knows?

Any of these matches are of main-event caliber. Title or no, we will see them all clash together eventually. Let's just give them all time to come into their full potential.

I go with the Punk vs. Miz match. You add Chris Jericho in the mix and there are my top three favorite performers at the time, all three are just amazing! They mesh really well, are established superstars and wouldn't take away anything from a John Cena-Undertaker confrontation for example.

The winner and UNDISPUTED WWE World Champion: The Miz

Why this guy? Simply because this is WrestleMania and heels don't win. People have to go home happy and CM Punk is great worker and would put someone over if only to make him even more honorable. Maybe CM Punk could win and turn face in the process as well.

I stick with my choice...call me a Miz Mark, a deluded fool...IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK!!

The former champions would enter the ring while the entire roster surrounds the ring, applauding. Amids the celebration and cheers of the thousands in attendance, Triple H arrives and hands the new championship belt to the winner and raises his hand up for all to see.

It would be the single most spectacular moment in all of WWE history.

Celebrate the Dream...

12 of 12

Having traveled all over the place, returning everyone borrowed to their respective times and places, I'd arrive home.

    I'd be spent.

There would be some much-needed vacation time and just like everyone enjoys a nice WWE DVD here and there so would I.

Reaching into my jacket I'd pull out the brand new WWE WrestleMania XXX box set, put it into my player and relax for the next four hours to enjoy magic in the making.
