The Chicago Bears play the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday at noon. The Bears are 6th in the NFL in stopping the run while the Falcons are 21st. The Bears are 9th in rushing yards while the Falcons are 2nd.
This should be a great battle between a good running team in the Falcons against a good run defense in the Bears.
Not so fast!
Thankfully I do my homework.
The Falcons are running frauds. Let me prove it to you.
In week 1 they played the 30th ranked run defense of the Detroit Lions who allowed them
In week 2 they played the 14th ranked run defense of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and were held to 105 total rushing yards.
In week 3 they played the 31st ranked run defense of the Kansas City Chiefs who allowed them 194 total rushing yards.
In week 4 they played the 13th ranked run defense of the Carolina Panthers and were held to 118 total rushing yards.
In week 5 they played the 27th ranked run defense of the Green Bay Packers who allowed them 176 total rushing yards.
Just to add the Bears have won the last 8 of nine against the Falcons.
You can make it 9 out of 10 after Sunday.
The Falcons running game will be held in check by da Bears!

I wouldn't underestimate how well the Falcons play when they're at home. Turner probably won't get great numbers but I'm willing to bet that he does some damage against a stout defense.
Turner hasn't played in enough games to really tell how well he can do against good run defense teams. Also, the two teams he had horrible games against were in his own division. I'm pretty sure Carolina and Tampa Bay both keep pretty close tabs on their divisional opponents.
It's going to be an interesting game to say the least because Atlanta does have a legit vertical threat in Roddy White. The key here is will their offensive line hold up long enough so that Matt Ryan can stay vertical himself to get the ball down field and open up the run game.

It will be interesting to see how Ryan responds to this defense when they shut down the running game (which I think they will do, at least holding it below 100 yards).
