WWE Needs to Stop Trying to be MMA

Lately the WWE seems to feel a need to make their matches more "real" to compete with MMA. I don't see the need in injuries to your top stars just to make a "sport" that we all know is scripted seem more real to those who could care less.

The WWE wrestlers of the 80's and 90's didn't need to do so and in turn were able to stay on TV weekly and fill arenas nightly and most importantly were there to build storylines and plots, now storylines can be destroyed with one legitimate punch or kick just to add some credibility.

We all know wrestlers do get injured in the ring but to get injured just for injuries sake is silly!

I say keep wrestling the way it has always been—a highly choreographed soap opera and athletic exhibition where injuries still do happen but not just for the sake of gaining credibility from those outside the wrestling world who call it "fake" regardless and won't change their minds anyway!

woh now they do not get injured just to get injured, way before MMA was a big as it is now, tey had Hell in a Cell matches, in which guys like The Undertkaer and Mankind, were fighting at the top of a a 30 ft. High Cage, Mankindgets thrown of and goes through a table, this was in the 90s still when MMA was just really geting started, they never had to compete now a days with MMA, they have been doing these kind of matches always pushing them envelope every time, Ladder matches, Hell in a Cell, Stell Cages, I mean MMA never even crossed their minds, and now that MMA is popular, wrestlers are getting hurt and while doing the same stuff they have always been doing even before MMA was maunstream your saying they should stop acting like them?

Maybe the WWE or even TNA are making their stuff look real, but they have always tred to do that, its entertainment, although coreographed, it is still great to watch, long before MMA. MMA was made to look like wrestling but actually see the moves hurt someone, see the bpxing art, kung-fu and other fighting sports collide. MMA has nothing on wrestling, it has existed long before it.

So why now would it try to make itself look like something it beats week after week? You would have to be a non-wrestling diehard MMA fan to agree. Sure they do get hurt, but it comes with the sport of wrestling

God you are a dork! READ the article! I am not saying they didn't get injured before.
I am saying as of late the WWE wants wrestlers to take punches, hits, etc. to make it look more legit, not just to compete with MMA but also due to HDTV.

Here are some articles that cover it from impactwrestling and pwmania....

"The knockout finish to the Big Show and Undertaker match at last night's WWE No Mercy pay-per-view is part of the company's attempt to put more realistic parts in their matches."

"As posted last week, Vince McMahon wants the WWE Superstars to become better actors and improve on filming their backstage segments. Vince is also talking about wanting a more realistic style in the ring. Norman Smiley was hired at WWE developmental and told he was being brought in because of his background in the more realistic Japanese style of wrestling. WWE doesn't want moves and blows that look like they miss and are still sold. They also want to bring back a more realistic feel to the matches and have less light showing in the moves done."

"WWE officials have gone back and forth for over a year now on the concept of the knockout finish, which we saw at No Mercy with Big Show and The Undertaker. Obviously they are trying it out but if it doesn't get over it will probably not be used anymore. Earlier in the year when the company was making the move over to HD, they were wanting to make sure everything looked solid on TV because HD would make missed spots more obvious."

So as you can see, I am not talking out of my ass here.

I have been watching wrestling for almost 24 years so I think an 18 year old giving me a history lesson is a bit silly.

The point of the story is that as of late the WWE is pushing their wrestlers into a more "realistic" style which leads to more injuries.

Aslo they are doing the Big Show and Undertaker thing as a storyline, see Show came back as a guy who became a boxer but never got competetion, so he came back to te WWE to get some, they put him in that match at Wrestlemania with Mayweather and took his character to the next level, Show actually did box too, look on Youtube, I know what your saying too, I read the article, but if that is your only sourse or that is the webitse only source they atre mistaken, they have done this for years, and just because I'm 19 doesn't mean I don't know as much as I guy who has watched wrestling for 24 years by the way
