Could Cincinnati Bengals Consider Blaine Gabbert with 4th Pick?
The Cincinnati Bengals have a myriad of options that they can use their fourth overall pick on depending on who falls that far, and I have went over all of them. While Cam Newton and A.J. Green were the clear frontrunners, it seems there may be a third possibility.
Now, it seems that a third person is making his way into discussions, and that person is Blaine Gabbert. The quarterback out of Missouri has been considered one of the safer choices of the draft, as he should not be a bust but will never be a star either.
If Cam Newton is selected first overall by the Carolina Panthers, then this option is definitely on the table. The Bengals need a quarterback since Carson Palmer is gone and there's no telling when free agency will start.
On the other hand, it's tough to say how well he would fit on the Bengals. Yes, he's intelligent, but is he a guy who can make the big play? I don't believe so, and who knows how well he'll be able to handle the drama in Cincinnati.
They do need a quarterback, and I think grabbing one in the second round is a better option, but if they want to use a top five pick on a guy who will have 5-7 average seasons then that's up to them.
