Monthly Madness, April Edition: WrestleMania 27 vs. Lockdown

Charlie GSenior Writer IApril 18, 2011

Welcome back to Monthly Madness!

The last edition of Monthly Madness was back in February. Against All Odds vs. Elimination Chamber. The results are in. The winner of the February edition of MM is...

TNA Against All Odds!

It's been too long! There was no March edition due to the fact that there was no WWE pay-per-view in March to battle TNA's Victory Road.

This month, April, we have a huge edition of MM.

WrestleMania 27 vs. Lockdown

WrestleMania 27 was held on April 3 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. There were 71,617 fans in attendance! That's crazy! There were originally nine matches on the card, but one was added as a surprise. The card and results go as follows:

Dark Match for the United States title: Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan: No contest

Dark Match 22-Man Battle Royal: Winner: The Great Khali

World Heavyweight title match: (c) Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio: Winner: (c) Edge

Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio: Winner: Cody Rhodes

Kane, Big Show, Santino and Kofi Kingston vs. The Corre: Winners: Kane, Big Show, Santino and Kofi

Randy Orton vs. CM Punk: Winner: Randy Orton

Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler (Steve Austin referee): Winner: Michael Cole by disqualification

The Undertaker vs. Triple H: Winner: Undertaker

Snooki, Trish Stratus and John Morrison vs. LayCool and Dolph Ziggler: Winners: Team Snooki

WWE title match: John Cena vs. (c) The Miz: Winner: (c) The Miz

The Grand Daddy of Them All is going up against TNA's all steel cage match pay-per-view, the brutal, Lockdown. Lockdown was held on April 17 at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. The results are as follows:

X Division Xscape Match: Winner: Max Buck

Four Way Tag Team Match: Winners: Ink Inc

Knockouts title match: Mickie James vs. (c) Madison Rayne: Winner: (c) Mickie James

Samoa Joe vs. The Pope: Winner: Samoa Joe

Matt Morgan vs. Hernandez: Winner: Matt Morgan

Ultra Male Match: Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle: Winner: Jeff Jarrett

TNA World title match: Mr. Anderson vs. RVD vs. (c) Sting: Winner: (c) Sting

Lethal Lockdown: Immortal vs. Fortune: Winners: Fortune

Both shows had good parts and some bad parts.

WWE did a stupid move by making Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan a dark match and then turned it into a battle royal, which many people thought was for the US title.

WrestleMania started with a 15-minute welcome promo by The Rock. Okay, that could've been the US title match.

Another bad move by WWE was by starting WrestleMania off with a World Heavyweight Championship match. Is that title important? Guess not if it kicks off the show. Edge retained and it's the fourth year in a row that the Royal Rumble winner lost at Wrestlemania. The Rumble is cursed!

Rhodes beating Mysterio was good for Rhodes. He has a good future in WWE.

The Corre vs. Big Show and friends was stupid. Big Show, Kane, Santino and Kofi. Can you pick a more random group of people? The entrances for each team took longer than the match itself.

The Corre, had been dominating Smackdown for weeks, gets squashed by a random group of people.

Orton vs. Punk was match of the night, but Punk should've won.

Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler. What a waste of time.

Undertaker vs. HHH was also great and could be the match of the night. It went back and forth and HHH almost ended the Streak. Undertaker wins and will take some time to heal.

Morrison and Ziggler were wasted in this match, not even getting tagged in. Most of the match was dominated by Startus and Snooki beating up Michelle McCool. This match was short and sweet; I was glad it didn't take up too much time.

The main event.

The Miz had a great promo video before his entrance. He's my favorite in WWE right now.

John Cena took forever with his stupid and boring entrance. Way to copy Blake Griffin with the choir. In fact I thought Blake Griffin was going to come out and do some dunks over a Kia.

This match was slow. Miz beating on Cena and telling him to stay down the entire time. When Cena mounts some offense, Miz ran away. He tried to escape through the crowd but Cena speared him off a guardrail and both men were counted out. Miz retains.

Wait! The Rock restarts the match! Cena goes for an AA on Miz, Miz slides off of Cena's shoulders and Rock hits a Rock Bottom on Cena! Miz retains again!

Then Rock lays out Miz and does a People's Elbow to send everyone home semi-happy.

Overall, it didn't feel like The Grandest Stage of Them All. WrestleMania was bad.

Now, onto Lockdown!

The night starts with the daredevils, X Division Xscape match.

Good match to start the show, and it really displayed what the X Division is all about. Fast paced action between Sabin, Red and Lethal but Max Buck wins the match.

The four-way tag team match was great!

It was just a basic tag team match in the beginning. Two guys wrestling in the ring. Then towards the end, all hell breaks loose and bodies are flying all over the ring! Scott Steiner is tossing everybody around with belly-to-belly suplexes!

Everyone starts busting out their finishing moves! This is insane! Everyone's down and Shannon Moore hits a Moore-gasm for the win. Nice match between all competitors.

Mickie James vs. Madison Rayne was a squash match. It ended in seconds because Mickie was wrestling with a separated shoulder. Mickie slams Madison head first into the cage three times and hits a DDT. New champion. I'll let this one slide because Mickie wrestled while injured.

Pope vs. Joe was good back-and-forth action and was a flat-out brawl. Joe hit Pope with two Muscle Busters and choked him out for the win.

Hernandez vs. Morgan was really physical. It went back and forth. Morgan decked Hernandez with a discus clothesline, then hit a Carbon Footprint while Hernandez leaped off the top rope. Morgan wins and signals a belt around his waist. He's going for gold.

Jarrett vs. Angle was match of the night. It was phenomenal. Potential match of the year candidate. They was amazing spots. Angle did a moonsault off the cage, an Angle Slam off the top rope, a belly-to-belly suplex off the top rope and five German suplexes in a row.

Jarrett power-bombed Angle off the cage, and Angle landed on his head and neck. Nasty landing.

In the end, Karen Jarrett helped her husband to victory. I have no idea what's next for Angle.

Sting proved he still got "it" in the title match. He held nothing back. He, RVD and Anderson had a good match for the top title in TNA. Plenty of good spots.

Sting had Anderson and RVD in a Scorpion Deathlock at the same time and Anderson even hit both men with a Mic Check at the same time during the match.

Hogan came out and offered RVD a pipe to use. RVD threw the pipe, but Anderson took it and used it on RVD and flipped off Hogan. Sting, from behind, hit a Scorpion Deathdrop for the win.

The Lethal Lockdown was amazing. James Storm busted a beer bottle over Flair's head and Flair was wearing a crimson mask.

At one point, Daniels jumped off the roof of the cage and landed on Matt Hardy and Abyss below.

In the ring, Bully Ray was beating down all of Fortune with a kendo stick when...

AJ Styles music hits! He charges the ring and beats Ray senseless!

Roode puts Flair in an arm-breaker submission and Flair taps! Fortune wins!

Wrestlemania 27

Positive: Undertaker vs. Triple H, Randy Orton vs. CM Punk, Rhodes wins, Miz retains

Negative: Cole vs. Lawler, Snooki, US title dark match, outcome of WWE title match, Corre being squashed, Morrison and Ziggler being wasted, World title match to open the show

Positive: Four-way tag team match, Pope vs. Joe, Morgan wins, Angle vs. Jarrett, World title match, Sting retains, Lethal Lockdown, AJ returns, Fortune wins

Negative: Length of Knockouts title match, Jarrett wins

I'm pretty sure you all know who I'm going to choose as winner.

I am voting Lockdown for this April edition of Monthly Madness pay-per-view of the month.
