NFL Free Agency 2011: Cedric Benson to the Washington Redskins?
Cedric Benson never lived up to the hype in Chicago, but his last few years in Cincinnati have been pretty impressive. Back-to-back 1100+ yard seasons and 14 touchdowns have helped carry a sometimes downright awful Bengals’ offense.
It looks like Cincinnati is building from scratch. Carson Palmer has made it clear he’s never going to play for the Bengals again, Terrell Owens is a free agent, and Ochocinco is likely on his way out, too. They may be looking for a completely fresh start in 2011, and that may mean Benson’s days in Cincinnati are numbered.
But don’t be surprised if he’s a Bengal in 2011, either. He’s solid, and would be a rookie quarterback’s best friend if the Bengals take a quarterback in this year’s draft. It’s always nice to know what you’re getting.
The Giants, Broncos, and Redskins look like good fits, too. To me, Washington looks like the best fit. Portis is gone, and Ryan Torain is solid, but may not be feature-back material.
Prediction: Cedric Benson signs with the Washington Redskins
