NFL Free Agency 2011: Sidney Rice Staying with the Minnesota Vikings?
Sidney Rice was an elite receiver in 2009. He dominated, racking up 83 catches, 1312 yards, and 8 touchdowns.
He was injured for most of the 2010 season thanks to a hip injury from the NFC Championship game. Rice played in just 6 games, but put up decent numbers.
Some question if Rice is really a great receiver. He was great in 2009, the only year he played with an elite quarterback. Favre was really on top of his game then. Seems like a long time ago, right?
I think Rice can thrive in the right situation. Minnesota would really love to keep him, but they’ve got issues all over the place. They need to find their QB of the future, figure out if they’re going to sign Rey Edwards, and get a real system in place under new coach Leslie Frazier.
I could see a lot of teams making a run at Rice, but Seattle, and Minnesota seem like the best fits to me. Seattle has money to spend, but like Minnesota, they have a big question mark at quarterback. And if the Jets don’t re-sign Santonio Holmes or Braylon Edwards, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a run at Rice.
Prediction: Sidney Rice stays in Minnesota
