2011 NBA Playoff Predictions: Blazers vs. Mavericks Guaranteed to End in Upset
The Portland Trail Blazers Will Upset the Mavericks in the First Round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs
The Dallas Mavericks have faced the Portland Trail Blazers twice in the last month, and they failed to win both times.
The Mavericks also slipped and let the Lakers take over the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, which means they'll get a few more shots to try and beat Portland. I don't think that it will happen, and I'm not the only one.
Several people have the Trail Blazers winning this because Dallas hasn't looked like a solid team over this past month, especially in the games against top notch teams. The Mavericks aren't worried and guard Jason Terry responded to the criticism by telling teams to bring it.
From ESPN Dallas:
"A lot of teams want to play us," he said, "and they're going to get their shot, one by one."
However the Trail Blazers aren't shaking in their boots at the thought of playing Dallas. Head coach Nate McMillian is pleased with what his team has done this season, and is preparing for the matchup with Dallas.
"We were able to sit some guys out that have injuries or soreness," McMillan said. "Now we can get prepared for who we are going to face this weekend. The important thing tonight was for (the reserves) to go out and play hard and get some time out on the floor."
The Trail Blazers have been playing really well since adding Gerald Wallace to the team. It was a great trade because they were able to keep Marcus Camby on the roster. They're going to need his big body and solid defense in the series with Dallas.
I give the edge to the Trail Blazers in this series because of the superb team ball they'e playing. Wallace, LaMarcus Aldridge, Wesley Matthews, Rudy Fernandez, and Nicola Batum know how to get it done for Portland.
Another player to watch in this series is Brandon Roy. He has back problems and isn't quite the same player he used to be, but he can come in and hit clutch shots for Portland.
The Trail Blazers get it done and move on to the second round to face the Lakers.
