NHL Playoffs 2011: Can Ryan Kesler and the Canucks Live Up to the Expectations?
NHL Playoffs 2011, 'Heavy lies the crown' is a saying that should placed on the Blackhawks who are trying to defend the Stanley Cup. But, it is actually the Canucks with the most points in the league, and some say the most talent; that are feeling the heat.
ESPN's 'experts' made their picks for the first round winners and not surprisingly the Canucks were chosen to win series with a total of six out of eight. The two people in Scott Burnside and Steve Levy who thought the Blackhawks were going to win it; had them taking it in a seventh game.
The NHL Playoffs more than any other post season format gives a team no matter what seed they have a real chance of making it deep into the tournament. That is why 8-seeds often can make deep runs as the old days of home ice advantage has gone to the wayside with the "cookie-cutter" ice surfaces and arenas.
But, the Canucks players and their fans truly believe that they have something special in 2011.
With world class offensive players in Ryan Kesler and the Sedin's on the attack all season, and defensive stalwarts that run three lines deep with talent; it is easy to see why this may be the team to finally bring a title back to the city of Vancouver.
