Rangers Sweep Lightning In Prague

Ryan McFaddenOct 7, 2008

The Rangers came home from their European excursion with 4 points and a 2-0 record. A very successful trip. At times they completely dominated the Lightning and when play was even, Henrik Lundqvist was his usual self making difficult saves look elementary. Every aspect of the Rangers game looked solid. Their fore checking was superb, there penalty kill was stingy, they played well in their own zone, they carried the flow of the game and even their power play showed vast signs of improvement over last years. I think they shot the puck more on the PP when Redden scored than they did during a whole months worth of PPs last season. The team looks extremely promising with their new run N gun style. The Rangers are noticeably a much faster team than seasons past. This new composition of players fits into the winning mold created by the Red Wings.

The line combinations seem to be all worked as well. I especially liked the Callahan Korpikoski Prucha line. They created a slew of chances off their cycling and I don’t think this line is going to be changed up anytime soon. Korpikoski looks as though he may have a big rookie season, he played with such poise that he certainly did not look like a rookie.

more to come..
