Lawrence Taylor: Did Former New York Giants Great Get off Easy in Court?
Lawrence Taylor Registered as Level 1 Sex Offender
New York Giants Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was given Level 1 status in a Rockland County court on Tuesday, according to ESPN.
Taylor pleaded guilty in January to two counts of sexual misconduct and soliciting a prostitute in the third degree and was sentenced to six years probation in his home state of Florida last month.
Taylor was arrested last May for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old girl, who said she was beaten and forced to go to his hotel.
There are threes levels of sex offenders: Level 1 are deemed low risk to the public, Level 2 are deemed medium risk and Level 3 are deemed high risk.
Because Taylor was granted Level 1 status, he won't have to register his name in the online sex offender database.

So, the question is, did Taylor get off easy for his charges?
It's really a judgment call.
Is this a pattern for Taylor or was it a one-time thing?
Judge William Kelly, via ESPN, said Taylor's chances of repeating weren't likely.
But Taylor clearly has some problems and although I don't think he will continue these ways, as Kelly points out, he probably needs some help to sort out his issues.
So Level 1 may have been appropriate and not exactly handing him a gift.
One thing's for sure: the former Giants star's image has been sacked, and that may be just as costly.
