The 2011 NFL Draft is a little over two weeks away, and while we have no idea when these kids will be able to negotiate and sign and join their new team, we still know that they will be selected either way.
Whereas this may be the only player movement prior to the next NFL season—whenever that happens to be is anyone's best guess—the draft is more important than in past years.
Of course, there are restrictions as well, as no current NFL player can be involved in any trade. That may limit the number of moves we see on draft day, which is just another negative affect of the lockout between players and owners.
Still, nothing should take away what is about to happen for these former collegiate stars.
Getting to hear your name called by Roger Goodell is very special, and they should not have to forfeit that opportunity just because of the lockout. That is just more selfishness by the current players, regardless of what they are fighting for in labor negotiations.
With that being said, nothing will hang a dark cloud over the 2011 NFL Draft.
We will still get to hear the names of Cam Newton, Marcell Dareus, Patrick Peterson, A.J. Green and others get selected within the first few picks of the 2011 NFL Draft.
Stay tuned for updates on all 32 picks in our own 2011 NFL Mock Draft.
