NFL Draft 2011 The Buffalo Bills Are Considering Marcell Dareus With Their First Round Pick
If defense wins championships, Marcell Dareus could be the foundation in the Buffalo Bills hopes in winning one someday. That's why on draft day, the Bills will be paying the most attention to what Carolina and Denver decide to do with the top two picks respectively.
Think about it, Dareus is exactly what the Bills are looking for and need. The defensive tackle out of Alabama stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs in at 319-pounds. To put that into perspective, he's a flat out beast.
And in the Bills 3-4 defensive scheme, there couldn't be a more perfect fit than Dareus, who played nose tackle for the Crimson Tide.
Even if the Bills decide to move him to defensive end, Dareus is versatile enough to where the switch wouldn't be a problem. That's what's great about him. He's not just a player with great size that can be a force in the middle, he can flat-out move on the field and get after the quarterback. His agility is superb.
ESPN director of college scouting Todd Mcshay has Dareus going to Denver with the No. 2 overall pick. He said this on ESPN.com.
"Dareus is too special and he’d help this defense too much for Denver to bypass him."
All the more reason for Buffalo to snatch him up if he's still on the board. Does Buffalo have more needs than defense? The answer is yes. But Dareus is an impact player and would be the perfect fit for a team that needs him badly.
