Eagles fans should enjoy the idea of what Ray Lewis discussed

Having covered pro boxing for seven years, and grown up a boxing fan, I know Philadelphia appreciates the Sweet Science.

As the NFL Draft gets closer, I saw this other story that came out recently involving Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, who appeared on the NFL Network on Monday. The question was then thrown out to him about who would win in a fight between him and Ravens safety Tom Zbikowski, who is 3-0 as a professional boxer.

"Zbikowski would lose," Lewis said. "We’ve already talked about that. Zbikowski is a realist when it comes to the sport. The locker room talk is always that about who can beat who. He’ll be the first to tell you he’s not going to get in the ring with a 250-pound person. That’s crazy!"

Zbikowski came back and disputed the claim, and said that while it'd be nerve-wracking, he could beat any current NFL player in the ring.

We'll get back to Ray and Tom in a second, but here's my question: If you could pay to watch any Eagles players fight each other, who would it be? And who would win (explain your pick)?

Those of you Eagles fans who grew up watching boxing should enjoy that.

Back to Ray...

Zbikowski has spent time in the ring and has professional experience. If you're talking just on pure skill and ability, I think he's right. He probably would win. He's certainly not going to just stand there and let Ray drop a right hook to his jaw.

Now, let me say this first about Ray: If you talk to many promoters in boxing, like Bob Arum, they'd tell you that Ray Lewis would have made a tremendous heavyweight. His name always got thrown out there. As for how he'd do, I think he's got the physique to trade a few rounds and obviously he'd probably have a killer right cross.

Give me Zbikowski by decision.
