NFL Draft 2011: The Titans Are Rolling out the Carpet for Potential Quarterbacks
NFL Draft 2011 Workouts With Jake Locker Raise Interest For the Titans
With the biggest need in Tennessee being the quarterback position its no surprise that the Titans have been bringing in a wide variety of quarterbacks that they could end up drafting this year.
The Titans have already met with Cam Newton and Christian Ponder but they also are bringing in Jake Locker, Andy Dalton, and Blaine Gabbert this week with Ryan Mallett making an appearance in Tennessee next week. They have also shown a lot of interesting in Colin Kaepernick.
The most interesting prospect on the Titans list is Locker. The former Washington star could get picked by the Titans at No. 8 but it would be a little bit of a reach for him.
According to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean one guy that still has high hopes for Locker is Mel Kiper Jr.
“For me, I still hold out hope that Locker can be a real good quarterback. He is a great kid and has all the physical skills you would want,” Kiper said. “But when the balls leave his hands sometimes you don’t know where it is going. He was the No. 1 pick overall going into this year for a reason.
“(But) he didn’t play like a No.1 pick (in 2010). He played like a guy that was going to have some people who really liked his potential which they still do and some people are completely down on Jake Locker. … I am going to hold out hope. Some people still think he can be great.”
