NFL Draft 2011: Do Carolina Panthers Have Their Eyes on Davon House?
Carolina Panthers Draft: Speedy corner getting second-round speculation:
Speed kills. The old adage still holds true, especially in the NFL. That's why New Mexico State corner Davon House looks like a second-round product. House is visiting the Carolina Panthers April 13, reports Aaron Wilson of National Football Post.
House got scouts' attention by interception 11 passes in college and deflecting another 46. Those numbers scream of ball skills. But it's House's speed that have him getting good grades from the experts. After running a 4.38-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, House improved to 4.32 seconds at his pro day.
That's really, really fast. It's fast enough to keep up with almost anyone in the NFL already.
However, if Carolina is serious about acquiring House, it's going to have to change its destiny. As things stand, the Panthers don't have a second-round pick, having traded it last year to the New England Patriots to pick Armanti Edwards in the third round.
There are ways to get into the second-round game, including trading down from the top overall pick.
