Steelers May Want Mike Pouncey Enough to Trade Picks with Giants

It's starting to seem more likely that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to build up the trenches with their first pick in the draft, rather than using the pick to build their secondary.

If the Steelers do decide to go that route, obviously the target they would most want is Florida's Mike Pouncey. Twin brother Maurkice Pouncey made a Pro Bowl his rookie season, and having both players on the offensive line would solidify it for the rest of the decade.

The problem is, of course, that Pouncey will not fall all the way to the Steelers with the 31st pick. If they were to trade picks, their best best would be the New York Giants, whose 19th pick is likely about where Pouncey is projected to go.

As nice as that sounds on this surface, this trade would not happen for two reasons. First, the Giants was to beef up their line as well to help out Eli Manning; why would they give up an ideal spot?

Second, what would the Steelers trade? By trading the 19th pick for the 31st, the Steelers would have to give up at least a second or third-round pick as well, which are picks they need to fill up other holes as well. So as nice an idea as this may be, it won't happen.
