Masters 2011 Payout: Charl Schwartzel Earns $1.4M for Beating Tiger Woods, Field

Unheralded South African golfer Charl Schwartzel entered the history books as he earned the Masters 2011 green jacket and a $1.4 million purse with a sizzling six-under 66 on the final day of the tournament, capped by birdies on his the last four holes to finish off -14 and hold off Adam Scott and Jason Day, by two strokes apiece.

Schwartzel's amazing performance capped a wild final day which featured a collapse by Rory McIlroy, who led entering Sunday but suffered through an eight-over 78. Tiger Woods excited the gallery by making a late charge, shooting five-under for the day to finish fourth at -10.

With the crowd fascinated by the prospect of Tiger Woods winning another major, the 26-year-old Schwartzel caught fire on the final day of the tournament, capping his four straight birdies on the final four holes with an incredible 20-footer on 18. For his efforts, Schwartzel pockets a cool $1.4 million payout. Scott and Day will both earn roughly $700,000 for finishing in a second-place tie. Scott nearly became the first Australian ever to win the Masters green jacket.
