2011 Masters Purse: $8 Million Dollars Up for Grabs
There are many reasons why it is nice to win the Masters. When you ask the players who won, very rarely do they mention the money that came along with the green jacket.
That is part of the mystique of the Masters. No one really seems to be worried about winning the money.
This year the payouts are huge. The total purse for the 2011 Masters is somewhere in the $8 million dollar range.
That means the golfer who wins will take home almost $1.5 million, pretty good for four days of work. The guy who finishes second is expected to take home almost $900,000.
Even the guy who finishes dead last will take home about $40,000.
So who will take home the big check?
That remains to be seen. There are six players within two shots of the lead. And with most of the back nine left at Augusta National Golf Club it is simply too early to tell who will win.
