USC jumped BYU after a big home victory over Oregon.

Paul Peszko takes a look at who popped and who dropped in his Top 25 for this week.
POPS

  • Popping up, all with decisive victories, were Missouri, Penn State, Florida, Texas Tech, USC, and BYU.
  • No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 2 Texas also had decisive victories and remained in the top two spots. However, one of them will drop next week when the two teams meet in the Red River Shootout (Sorry, I don’t like Red River Rivalry).
  • Also popping this week were Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Utah, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Michigan State, Florida State, and Virginia Tech.
  • Boise State, TCU and Georgia Tech popped into my Top 25 for the first time.

Drops

  • Dropping out of the Top 25 were Fresno State and Connecticut.
  • Other drops include Kentucky, Wisconsin, South Florida, Alabama, and LSU. Although LSU had a bye and Alabama edged a mediocre Kentucky team, Missouri had a sensational game against Nebraska and jumped LSU. Penn State, Florida, and Texas Tech all had better games than Alabama.
