Tiger Woods: Will Tiger's Temper Get the Better of Him at the Masters?
Tiger Woods Clearly Frustrated with Play in Round 3 of Masters
One only had to look at Tiger Woods' reactions after his many flailing strokes on Saturday at Augusta to know that he wants this Masters more than anything.
As much as he tries to downplay it, his game and demeanor are off, both so scattered and inconsistent that you wonder if he has it in him to win a major this year, let alone the Masters.
A day after scoring a 6-under par 66, Woods was the complete opposite on Saturday, ending with a 2-over par 74 to see his stroke deficit increase from three strokes at the start of the day to seven at the end of it.
He was slamming his club into the ground, cursing, and generally looking plain downcast and beaten the whole day.
It makes you wonder how much the former No. 1 golfer in the world has left in the tank, how he can continue playing on fumes and frustration.
He never became the greatest golfer in the game because he wasn't driven, which is exactly why he may just be burned out at this point, especially given all the personal baggage he's lugging around.
The sad thing is, like on Friday, he shows glimpses of being that same player he once was from time to time, making miraculous shots that bring people back to thinking he may just come around.
But he's not a consistent golfer anymore, both mentally and physically, and that's why, even with a 66 one day, he has become just another golfer the next.
He won't quit, he'll likely continue even until he can't swing a club anymore because it's the only way he knows..
But that's what makes it so sad, to see him hitting from under a tree branch and judging if his club will hit the tree on the backswing.
Or dribbling a shot out of the bunker, instead of dropping it into the hole.
He's slowly losing everything that once made him the greatest in the game, and no one knows it better than himself.
