2011 Masters Leaderboard: Angel Cabrera, Former Masters Champ, in Contention
Angel Cabrera: Two Time Major Champion, El Pato, Makes His Presence Known
2009 Masters Champion Angel Cabrera is in the clubhouse at 8-under par after turning in the best round of the day, a rock solid 5-under par 67. The Argentinian Ace began the day 7 shots back at 3-under in a three way tie for 18th. However, three back birdies carried the portly Cabrera up the leader board as he leapfrogged playing partner and fan-favorite, Sergio Garcia whose early run was derailed by a double bogey on 11 and dreadful back nine 42.
Cabrera will undoubtedly be a factor on Sunday. Throughout his career the affectionately nicknamed El Pato has seemed immune to the pressure of the moment in majors; emerging victorious from a three man playoff at the 2009 Masters and winning the 2007 US Open on the strength of a flawless final round 1-under par 69 on a day no other player in the Top 10 broke par. The flat stick will be the key for Cabrera on Sunday as he is well renowned for his solid ball striking.
