For the second year in a roll the Cubs have been swept in NLDS as they lose to the Dodgers 3-1, once again they were unable to score with runners in scoring position. The Dodgers jumped on the Cubs early in the first as they scored two runs on a James Loney double, they then added another in the fifth when Russell Martin doubled to drive in Rafael Furcal. As for the Cubs their lone run came in the top of the eighth when Daryle Ward a Career Pinch hitter singled to drive in Derrek Lee. Rich Harden put in only 4 1/3 innings allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out four and walking four. For the Dodgers Hiroki Kuroda put in 6 1/3 innings of work allowing just six hits while striking out four. Cory Wade worked an 1 1/3 allowing the Cubs lone run and Jonathan Broxton worked the ninth and struck out the side to slam the door on the Cubs PostSeason. This series was a major disappointment for the hitters as they only were able to muster 6 runs while the Dodgers on the other hand scored 20 runs. So as far as I am concern this Cubs team overachieved in the Regular Season and once again let their fans down in the PostSeason! It is now a Hundred Years and Counting For the Cubs. With that said I guess all I can say is Wait Until Next Year!
