BOS 3, LAA 2: Lowrie, Sox headed to ALCS

Evan Brunell@evanbrunellFeatured ColumnistOctober 7, 2008

Jed Lowrie got another chance to punch Boston’s ticket to the ALCS, and this time around, Lowrie delivered.

Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth, Lowrie lined a single to right field and Jason Bay slid into home safely to score the game winning run.

Bay had doubled earlier in the inning to right field.

Star of the Game: Jon Lester

Seven shutout innings of pitching against the Angels No. 1 pitcher John Lackey deserves the nod here. Lester only gave up four hits and struck out four.

Next series: HEADED TO TAMPA

Hey, just a thought. Being the team without home field advantage might benefit us here.

Just a thought.
