Allen Iverson Launches Expletive-Filled Tirade Against Police Over Traffic Stop
Remember when Allen Iverson was somebody?
Those days are long gone as the washed-up former MVP has continued to make the news for all of the wrong reasons.
Whether it be gambling debts, three games with the Memphis Grizzlies or playing basketball in Turkey because no team would take a chance on him, Iverson has looked more and more like a tragic figure and a cautionary tale for every young player entering the NBA.
Now, Iverson is in the news for a traffic stop where naturally, Iverson made a fool of himself.
"Former NBA star Allen Iverson launched an expletive-ridden tirade against police when a car belonging to him was pulled over for a traffic violation last week, at one point telling the officer, "Take the vehicle, I have 10 more," according to a police report."
"Iverson, 35, was a passenger in a grey Lamborghini, spied by an Atlanta officer changing lanes without signaling about 6 p.m. on March 30, according to the police report obtained by CNN.
"The driver, identified in the report as Antwuan Clisby, couldn't produce any documentation for the vehicle, the report said. He then told the officer his passenger needed to leave the vehicle to eat dinner, and the officer said no one was leaving until the investigation was complete.
"With that, Iverson became "irate," according to the police report, saying, "I'm the (expletive) passenger." The officer radioed for backup, and a second unit arrived, according to the report. Clisby and Iverson were asked to exit the vehicle, while Iverson continued to curse at the officer, the report said."
It's not shocking that Iverson, who has a notorious record of being disrespectful, acted this way. In fact, it fits right into the character of the man who once carried the Philadelphia 76ers to the NBA Finals. Iverson, as his talent has diminished, has become more and more unruly and disruptive than he ever was in the past.
He can't admit that he's no longer Allen Iverson, worldwide basketball star. He doesn't have sneakers flying off of the shelves, no kids are wearing his jersey, he's not beloved by the country.
Iverson is a faded star without a home.
The talented guard ran himself out of the league with his stubbornness and inability to compromise with coaches in Detroit and Memphis. Iverson deserves nothing less for his behavior and it's fitting that he plays out his days in gyms in Turkey, showcasing what little talent his banged up body has left.
The Answer can shout and holler at a police officer, asking if he knows how famous he is, but the reality is that no one cares.
In fact, we don't care because we know what he is, a broke, washed-up primadonna who ran himself out of the league that made him famous because he never took the time to grow up and mature into an adult.
