Brock Lesnar vs. JDS: TUF 13 on Spike TV—Any Given Sunday...Wait, Sunday?
OK, so it was kind of a muddled message since “any given Sunday” has already been adopted as the rallying cry for the NFL and these guys are not in the NFL. Additionally, UFC fights are almost never on Sundays unless they’re overseas so there’s that little inconsistency.
No matter. We all knew what Brock meant and, more importantly, so did his fighters. Or at least they feigned comprehension sufficiently.
It’s another illustration that Lesnar isn’t just a mass of muscle rapped around a thick skull—it’s a simple thing, but he’s tailoring the message to fit the situation (his team is the underdog) while hammering a universal truth that will still be applicable in the event he ever gets control of the matchups.
Granted, the implicit message isn’t exactly uplifting i.e. paralleling a champion’s one, unexpected loss to a Chris Cope win.
Hey, nobody’s perfect.
Like the man said, we’re all human.
