Skylar Diggins: Notre Dame Beauty Transcends Women's Basketball
Skylar Diggins is a Hit Despite Notre Dame Loss to Texas A&M
It isn't easy being a women's basketball player. You put your body on the line. You give as much effort as the men, and get little to no recognition for doing so.
Sure, women's basketball is covered here and there on ESPN. I challenge you to name five stars from that sport. In fact, name one. Unless you consider yourself a fan, you just can't.
However, one player has stepped from the obscure halls of the women's basketball and finds herself as a newly crested celebrity. I am of course talking about Skylar Diggins.
The Notre Dame guard is both hot on the court and off. Her Notre Dame Fighting Irish just dropped a heart breaker in the title game to Texas A&M. Diggins was a star in the 2011 tournament.
She has four 20-plus point games including 28-point domination of UConn, one of the sports premier teams. Her basketball acumen mixed with her startling beauty has caught the eye of some big players in the music industry.
Lil Wayne took to Twitter and confessed:
"Good lukk to my wife Skylar Diggins and the Fighting Irish."
Diggins was absolutely gracious in her response.
"I'm like, 'I didn't know we were married, but this is huge. Him just watching the game and watching us play, I think that says a lot about how big women's basketball is becoming."
Chris Brown also chimed in with a tweet of his own.
"Skylar Diggins ... She's a cutie @skydigg4 congrats beautifu"
There are not many women that breakout from hoops as stars. Diggins can safely say that she is not the next big thing. No, this beauty has already arrived.
She will be back next year making Notre Dame fans extremely happy. There is no way getting around it, Diggins is the real deal.
