Each team has at least one worthless player who is dragging them down.
Every fan has that one "ham sandwich" on their favorite team that just makes them pull their hair out. Sometimes teams need to make additions by subtraction by trimming the fat.
Here is each franchise's "fatty excess" that must be severed in order to create a leaner, meaner team.
Anaheim Ducks: George Parros, RW
Bruce Bennett/Getty Images
It is understandable that George Parros is there to be an enforcer. However, if your in the NHL, you should have at least some talent.
In 364 career games he has just 29 points (16 goals, 13 assists). His biggest accomplishment is his 850 career penalty minutes.
At least he has a sweet mustache.
Atlanta Thrashers: Eric Boulton, LW
Jim McIsaac/Getty Images
The next cold cut on skates is Eric Boulton.
He should get a little credit, though. He is having a career year... with five goals. Boulton is just wasting a roster spot of someone who is more deserving.
Boston Bruins: Daniel Paille, LW
Bruce Bennett/Getty Images
Daniel Paille is by far the best cut of meat thus far but every team has to have a ham sandwich.
Paille, who has only appeared in 40 games this year has six goals and five assists. Paille will never be better than a third or fourth line player.
Buffalo Sabres: Rob Niedermayer, C
Al Bello/Getty Images
There were a few different candidates on the Buffalo Sabres but the honor goes to Rob Niedermayer. Without a question, his best days are behind him.
Niedermayer went a 71 game stretch without a goal until he finally netted one on March 6 in a 3-2 OT winner over the Minnesota wild.
Luckily for Sabres fans, he is an unrestricted free agent come this Summer.
Calgary Flames: Freddy Modin, LW
Mike Ridewood/Getty Images
Freddy Modin has been with both the Atlanta Thrashers and the Calgary Flames this season. He has battled injuries and has only appeared in 40 games.
He has only managed to tally 10 points and is a minus-14. Modin's career may be quickly coming to an end.
Carolina Hurricanes: Troy Bodie, RW
Paul Bereswill/Getty Images
Troy Bodie has spent much time in the NHL and it's for good reason. He can do a decent job in a fight defending his teammates. Other than that, don't expect much else.
In 107 career NHL games he has just 11 point (six goals and five assists) and is a minus-15.
Chicago Blackhawks: Jordan Hendry, D
Christian Petersen/Getty Images
The Chicago Blackhawks have endured a lot of roster turnover this season and have had guys step out for them.
Jordan Hendry wasn't one of those guys. This season he has managed to score a single goal as his only point in 37 games and is a minus-2.
Colorado Avalanche: Cody McLeod, LW
Jeff Gross/Getty Images
Cody McLeod is another enforcer to make the list. In this era of the NHL being a tough guy isn't enough.
McLeod has eight points in 68 games. He is a minus-9 on the season and is a minus-39 for his career.
Columbus Blue Jackets: Jared Boll, RW
Joel Auerbach/Getty Images
Jared Boll isn't a hockey player, he is a goon. He's never finished the season with a positive plus-minus rating, has never scored more than six goals and has never had more than 14 points.
On a positive note, he has never had less than 149 penalty minutes in a year.
Dallas Stars: Tom Wandell, C
Ronald Martinez/Getty Images
At Jared Boll and the enforcers can fight. This guy doesn't do much of anything.
This season, Tom Wandell has just eight points (two goals and six assists) and is a minus-5. Don't expect to Wandell last too long in the NHL.
Detroit Red Wings: Kris Draper, C
Christian Petersen/Getty Images
Kris Draper has been a part of a lot of great moments as a Detroit Red Wing. However, it may be time for him to finally hang it up.
Draper has been in and out of the lineup this year with injuries. He has only appeared in 45 games. This is his lowest total since the lockout shortened 1994-1995 season.
His production has also dropped off over the last few seasons.
Edmonton Oilers: Colin Fraser, C
Dale MacMillan/Getty Images
While this hasn't been a season to remember for the Edmonton Oilers, so players are hoping to forget it more than others.
That is certainly the case for Colin Fraser. In 67 games he has just five points (three goals and two assists) and is a minus-2.
Florida Panthers: Darcy Hordichuk, LW
Bruce Bennett/Getty Images
Darcy Hordichuk has been having a terrible year by any standards. In 64 games has just 5 points and is a minus-1.
His penalty minutes are even down. Barring a miraculous happening, this will be the first time in three seasons he doesn't accumulate at least 100 penalty minutes.
Los Angeles Kings: Kevin Westgarth, C
Paul Bereswill/Getty Images
Kevin Westgarth beat out fellow teammate and tough guy Kyle Clifford for the Los Angleles Kings' most worthless player.
In 53 games Westgarth has just 3 assists and is minus-5.
Minnesota Wild: Greg Zanon, D
Bruce Bennett/Getty Images
There were a few guys in the running in Minnesota for most worthless player. The honor goes to Greg Zanon.
In 79 games Zanon has just 6 assists and is a minus-6. At least he can be counted on to always suit up.
Montreal Canadiens: Tom Pyatt, C
Paul Bereswill/Getty Images
Tom Pyatt is still young, 24, so he may have better days awaiting.
He hasn't done much thus far though. In 59 games he has five points (2 goals, 3 assists) and is minus-5. Those are enforcer type numbers but Pyatt doesn't actually fight.
Nashville Predators: Jerred Smithson, C
Paul Bereswill/Getty Images
The Nashville Predators, by some people's standards, are having a surprisingly good season. The same cannot be said for Jerred Smithson.
In 80 games he has just 12 points (five goals and seven assists) and is a minus-6.
New Jersey Devils: Adam Mair, C
Bruce Bennett/Getty Images
Adam Mair has never been a great hockey player but even by his standards he is having a poor year.
In 62 games, he has just one goal, two assist and is dismall minus-16.
New York Islanders: Zenon Konopka, C
Paul Bereswill/Getty Images
The New York Islanders have a lot of promising talent as they look ahead to the future. Zenon Konopka is not one of those players.
Zenon Konopka and Matt Moulson are the only Islanders to appear in every game. Beyond that, Konopka hasn't accomplished much. In 79 games, he has just nine points (two goals and seven assists) and is a minus-12.
New York Rangers: Steve Eminger, D
Mike Stobe/Getty Images
It is a good thing that the New York Rangers acquired Bryan McCabe at the trade deadline. They certainly needed help on the blue line.
One defenseman who hasn't been playing well this year is Steve Eminger. In 64 games he has two goals, four assists and is a minus-4.
Ottawa Senators: Chris Phillips, D
Bruce Bennett/Getty Images
Chris Phillips has had many good seasons for the Ottawa Senators but this year hasn't been one of them.
In 80 games he has just eight points (1 goal and seven assists) and is a minus-35. Phillips best years may be behind him.
Philadelphia Flyers: Daniel Carcillo, LW
Jim McIsaac/Getty Images
Daniel Carcillo won a tight race between Jody Shelley for this honor.
In 55 games, Carcillo has six points (two goals and four assists) and is a minus-13.
Phoenix Coyotes: Paul Bissonnette
Mike Stobe/Getty Images
This was one of the easier choices to make. At least Paul Bissonnette is good natured about it.
He is known for poking fun at himself in the Twitterverse. He has made quite a name for himself on Twitter. He can be followed @BizNasty2point0.
Pittsburgh Penguins: Michael Rupp, C
Jamie Sabau/Getty Images
With significant injuries to Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin other players have had to step up.
Michael Rupp wasn't one of those players. In 79 games he has only 14 points (seven goals and seven assists) and is a minus-7.
San Jose Sharks: Niclas Wallin, D
Christian Petersen/Getty Images
Niclas Wallin has never been a very flashy. He is a typical stay at home defenseman.
However, his play has dropped off in recent years and his numbers have dipped even by his standards.
Over the last three seasons Wallin has just 24 points (five goals and 19 assists) and is a minus-7.
St. Louis Blues: Tyson Strachan, D
Bruce Bennett/Getty Images
Tyson Strachan has only seen sparing NHL action in his career and for good reason.
In 67 NHL games he has yet to score and only has six assists.
Tampa Bay Lightning: Mattias Ohlund, D
Justin K. Aller/Getty Images
Mattias Ohlund is another player who's best days are behind him.
In fact, he hasn't scored a goal in two seasons and only has 18 assists and is minus-16. He, like a few others on the list, may be in the twilight of his career
Toronto Maple Leafs: Fredrik Sjostrom, LW
Claus Andersen/Getty Images
Fredrik Sjostrom's numbers with the Toronto Maple Leafs look nearly identical to his numbers with the Leafs a year ago.
The problem is he only played 19 games with the Leafs last year after being acquired from the Calgary Flames.
Through 65 games, Sjostrom has just two goals and three assists and is a minus-5.
Vancouver Canucks: Tanner Glass, LW
Christian Petersen/Getty Images
The Vancouver Canucks are a very talented team, maybe the most so in the NHL. However, even they have a few cold cuts.
Tanner Glass leads the way. He has just 10 points (three goals, seven assists) and is minus-5 in 71 games.
Washington Capitals: Boyd Gordon, RW
Paul Bereswill/Getty Images
Since tallying 29 points in the 2006-2007 season, Boyd Gordon has progressively gotten worse each season.
In 58 games this season, he has just eight points (three goals and five assists) and is a minus-5.
