Jason Ellis Debuts New Show On Fuel TV, But What Can We Expect From Former MMA Fighter's Network Debut?
Few athletes can claim a career as multi-faceted as the one enjoyed by Jason Ellis. The 39-year-old Australian first hit the sports world as a skateboarder, then jumped to the world of MMA fighting (where he won his first, and so far, only professional bout in 2009).
From there, Ellis has become a successful radio host on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Now, he's bringing his act to a television near you.
Ellis will be the host of a new show on Fuel TV, called "Ellismania". In it, Ellis will allow normal fans to fight one another in an MMA ring.
What else can we expect from this show? According to Neon Tommy, Ellis has some crazy things dreamed up for this show, all in the name of "fighting at it's dumbest".
"While Jason Ellis described the fights as being good hearted and between people who want to fight for the fun of it, there are twists and turns thrown in, which vary from fight to fight. For example, in one fight participants wore blindfolds and electric shock collars which were controlled by audience members."
Don't expect things to be all about the guys, either, as Neon Tommy tells us that there are going to be some ladies getting in on the fun, too.
Our own MMA expert, Adam Wells, is pumped about the show, telling readers
"The show sounds like a combination of "Jackass" and "Tosh.0." With a lot of really dumb, but adventurous people doing some really dumb things and getting big laughs out of it."
Given what we've heard about Ellis, and his eccentric radio show on Sirius XM, this thing sounds like it's going to be a must-watch. After all, there's nothing more fun than watching blindfolded, shock-collared people trying to fight in the ring.
Plus, this sounds like it's going to happen in the show's first few episodes (if it wasn't, would Ellis have spoiled something like that?); just imagine what he's got planned as the season goes on.
Ellis might be crazy (in fact, I'm pretty sure he is), but, given what we've heard about this show, he just might be a genius, too.
