There have been stunning developments on the WAG front in the past few weeks.
First we learned that Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera was dating diminutive Dallas Mavericks point guard JJ Barea.
Now the word comes out that another beauty queen, Miss USA Rima Fakih, is dating Toronto Blue Jays pitcher and L.A. native Ricky Romero.
Is there something in the pageant contract that says "if I win, I will date an athlete?"
As sports fans we are very competitive, so of course the natural thing to do is compare the two women and decide which one is hotter.
This is sports-- there are no ties. Except in soccer. And football...occasionally. So at the end we'll have a definitive verdict on who the hotter new WAG is.

Fakih was born in Lebanon, but she and her family fled when she was just a little girl to escape Civil War.
Fakih entered the pageant world by finishing third in 2008's Miss Lebanon Emigrant pageant, and she hasn't looked back since.
Finally last year she completed the American dream by winning Miss USA 2010 as a representative of Michigan.
She was the first Miss Michigan to win the title since 1993, and she is believed to be the first Lebanese American, the first Arab American, and the first Muslim to win the Miss USA title.
And now she's dating a Blue Jays pitcher named Ricky Romero. Talk about your success stories.
Rivera represented her native Puerto Rico in the 2006 Miss Universe pageant and, as we know, won the title.
She was the fifth Miss Puerto Rico to win the title, making the island the third most successful country in the history of the pageant, behind the United States and Venezuela.
Her reward? A pretty crown and JJ Barea. I guess she didn't read the fine print.
Less than 24 hours after she was crowned, Fakih was the subject of major controversy when reports surfaced that she had won a pole dancing contest called "Stripper 101" sponsored by a Detroit radio station in 2007.
What made things worse was that there was a set of pictures on the web. You're welcome.
People were obviously up in arms about it, but the radio station defended her saying the pictures were no more provocative than the Miss USA photos.
If anything, I'd think that would make her more qualified to be Miss USA, and apparently the pageant heads agreed with me since they let her keep her crown.
Apparently she also got some attention for starring in an independent short film called Throbbing Justice.
No, it's not on Netflix. I already checked.
Rivera is no stranger to controversy herself. At a press conference immediately after winning the Miss Universe title, Rivera passed out in the middle of questioning.
Immediately the accusations of bulimia and anorexia started to fly, but the incident was eventually dismissed as heat exhaustion as a result of the combination of stage lights and her heavy, chained dress.
It's amazing what these pageant winners have to put up with.
Fakih is dating Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Ricky Romero. Don't be confused by the Canadian address, Romero is legit.
He had a strong 2010 in his first full year in the majors and earned the opening day start this year for the Jays. He won the game, holding the Twins to just one earned run in six innings.
No word yet on how the couple got together, but this could be a power couple to look out for. And she's from Michigan, so you know she won't mind crossing the border into the Great White North occasionally.

A model dating an NBA player is nothing new. But there's something not quite right about this pair.
Barea is listed at 6'0", but he's closer to about 5'9", which is exactly how tall Rivera stands. Given that a pageant queen probably never leaves the house without heels, whenever they're out there's a good chance that Rivera is standing about two to three inches taller than her man.
Barea apparently swept Rivera off her feet on their first date, and it's a good thing since that's the only way he could talk to her without looking up.

In the effort to have a true comparison, I thought it was only fair to take a look at the two competitors in their natural attire: the bikini.
Yes, I'm all about leveling the playing field.

As you can see, Zuleyka goes for a more exotic look.
She also gets extra points for the UV-protective shawl. No skin cancer for her!

Sure she looks great in a bikini, but Rima also cleans up nice. I don't think Ricky would mind taking her out to a fine Toronto restaurant in this outfit.

Zuleyka cleans up nice as well, but this outfit may be a bit too much for dinner with JJ and his parents.
While Rima has certainly grown on us, we're going to have to declare Zuleyka Rivera as the winner here.
Rima's pole dancing escapades almost pushed her over the top, but in the end it came down to the fact that the universe is much larger than the United States.
So how could you not pick Miss Universe over Miss USA?
Congratulations to JJ Barea, but something tells me Ricky Romero won't be losing much sleep over the decision. Especially if Rima Fakih is next to him.
