Everyone expected to see the NFC Championship Game being played in Irving, Texas, but that's not the case.

The Dallas Cowboys choked at home against division rival New York Giants 21-17 in the divisional round of the playoffs, while the Packers cruised to a 42-20 win at home over the Seattle Seahawks.

Where does that leave us? Favre and Manning will battle it out. Old school vs. New school.

Who will take the cake? Packers and Patriots play a rematch of Super Bowl XXXI.

Why?  Brett  will have a phenomenal game  against a beaten up Giants defense. Their top 3 cornerbacks will most likely be out which means that Favre can throw to Jennings all day long.

The only problem with the mentality of pass first is the fact that New York has quite the D-Line. They will not give Favre much time to pass. The O-Line better hold up unless they want to watch the Super Bowl from home.

The Pack also needs to have a great game on special teams or else they may be staying home. All this may sound like too much for the Packers to do in one game but the  Giants make it easy on them coming into Lambeau beaten and battered.

Final Prediction: Packers win it 31-21. Good Luck in the Super Bowl!

  1. This should prove to be a tough game but I see the Packers coming out on top. Favre doesn't buckle under pressure like Romo and the Giants are pretty battered. The Giants defense will certainly put up one heck of a fight. I say 27-17 Packers over the Giants.

    Go Pack!!!

    1. "Favre doesn't buckle under pressure like Romo"

Well, I'd say those are two hyperbolic statements in one.

      1) Romo's not to blame single-handedly for the Cowboys' loss. He played well enough.
      2) Favre has had plenty of gaffes under big pressure. See the 49ers and Cowboys.

I still think the Packers win, but not for your reasons. That weather will destroy the Giants.

  2. Can't Argue that. The Giants coming to Lambeau for a s'posed 5 degree game. Those are the kind of conditions the packers thrive off of. And last week the packers showed they can definetly put up big numbers in those conditions. The giants definetly lack in their secondary. I think favre will have a huge throwing game and will come up ahead by 2 td's at least. Look forward to seeing them play the pats in the superbowl.

  3. I'm glad the Packers are ready. The bigger question is if the Giants are ready.

I agree with Dan on the weather. I hear the HIGH is 11 degrees. Eleven. It doesn't matter that the Giants are from the north, because quite frankly, they haven't seen weather like this. In terrible weather, the two teams are almost brought to the same level. And that Lambeau Crowd should be more than enough to propel the Packers to the Super Bowl.

  4. When has Favre ever not taken a 13-3 to the Super Bowl? You can say what you want but when Favre has had the talent around him, he has made it to the big game and even won one. Romo had a 13-3 team and led them to one of the biggest blunders in NFL history. Really it was unprecedented for a No1 seed to lose its first playoff game and not advance to the championship. The two times that Favre has had a 13-3 team he has made it to the big game. It looks like that should happen again this year as well. I don't see the Giants beating the Packers. The Packers of late are not the same team they were earlier in the season. They have established an exceptional running game and have some key defensive players back in their starting lineup who have recovered from injuries. They were absolutely explosive and dominated the Seahawks on Saturday. The Giants will certainly put up a fight, but their secondary is too battered to keep up with the Packers explosive passing game. I don't see Eli Manning having too good of a passing game against the Packers stout secondary.

"Romo played well enough". Is this some kind of joke? On a critical drive late in the 4th quarter in which the Cowboys were blessed with very good field position and a chance to score points, he committed a bone-head 10 yard intentional grounding penalty for no reason at all. In the same drive he was sacked for 14 yards when he had a clear chance to throw it away. I would say that was pretty costly to the Cowboys. Favre may have thrown silly interceptions in the past but always kept his team's head up and I don't recall him ever committing silly penalties. Romo was obviously flustered and lost his compusre which spread to the rest of his offense. I've never seen this from Favre. Let's face it, Romo is no Favre. He obviously didn't play well enough if they lost the game. A QBs job is much more than simply putting up good numbers. QBs lead their teams to victory via any means necessary.

    1. I agree that the sack he took was ridiculous.

But even the league office has come out saying the intentional grounding call was a mistake and should not have been called.

  5. I love Brett Favre. I have a true man crush on him. If he takes us to the Superbowl, I will have to move in with him and Diana. I hope they have a king size bed.

  6. On any Sunday....any team can ( and does ) beat any other team. The odds go to the Packers, as do I.
But then, I'm 67, born and raised in Wisconsin and a diehard Packers fan. How do you spell football?
F-A-V-R-E. He has become the essence of the game, how can a fan of the sport not be rooting for him and the Pack? Romo is young and although talented, He still needs experience. He'll grow into his position and will learn to handle pressure as time goes by. Manning has something to prove, living in the shadow of big brother Peyton. This could be a very important factor in Sunday's game. I think that the weather will effect both teams equally ( pray there's no wind Packers fans ). As for the " man crush ", We probably all have some of that in us. Favre is the son or grandson we all want. He has been elevated to the stature of being the John Wayne of the gridiron. Nothing would warm my heart more than to see a true sports hero have a Hollywood ending to his storybook career. Would it not be like Curt Gibson's homerun for the Dodgers against the A's in that world series game. I'm glad I got to see that and I'm glad I was here for the Favre/Packers era, no matter who wins. GO PACK!
