Manchester United are planning to make a move for Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio when the transfer market reopens in the summer.

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United are keeping a tab on the situation with reports from Turin suggesting that Marchisio's contract talks have stalled with the Bianconeri and he is ready to cut his ties with the club if his demands are not met.

Machisio is a product of the Juventus youth system, a tough tackler known for his long-range shooting abilities.

The 25-year-old has been impressed with Juventus and has also earned up a call with the Italian National team. He is seeking a major improvement in his deal and is ready to walk away to a club that is willing to meet his demands.

Over Hargreaves is unlikely to feature for Manchester United anymore and with Carrick and Anderson more attack-minded, Marchisio seems to be the perfect option for Sir Alex.

The Old Lady of Turin has suffered somewhat in recent years finishing in seventh spot last season and currently lie five points from a Europa League finish and 11 adrift of a Champions League qualification spot. The prospect of playing at Old Trafford and in the Champions League would be in itself a temptation to ask for a move.

The Italian is valued at around £20 million by his club, but the Red Devils will be confident of exploiting the breakdown in relationship between the player and Juventus and secure his signature for around £13 million.
