We are in the final hours of the countdown to the crown jewel of sports entertainment, and the eyes of the WWE Universe will be focused on Atlanta to see the most hyped-up matches of the year. But the questions on everyone's mind is: who's gonna burn down the house in Hot-Lanta?
Match 1: Michelle McCool, Layla and Dolph Ziggler vs. Snooki, Trish Stratus and John Morrison
This match may have been better if it was LayCool against Trish and Kelly Kelly, but throwing in two high-caliber talents like Morrison and Ziggler, not to mention Snooki (what is it with wrestling companies wanting to bring in Jersey Shore?), that drops this to the opening match of the night. Part of me honestly doesn't want to watch it, but it is Wrestlemania. Snooki makes the pin.
Winners: Snooki, Trish Stratus, and John Morrison
Match 2: (Special Guest Referee: Stone Cold Steve Austin) Jerry "The King" Lawler vs. Michael Cole (w/ Jack Swagger)
Does anyone expect anything different from this match? Austin delivers a Stunner to Swagger and allows Lawler to beat Cole's brains out before the top-rope fist drop for the win. Man, why did they outlaw the piledriver?
Winner: Jerry "The King" Lawler
Match 3: Santino Marella, Kofi Kingston, Big Show and Kane vs. The Corre (Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel)
I'm glad they were able to put these guys in the Granddaddy of Them All, but I wish the belts were involved (Big Show/Kane vs. Santino/Kozlov vs. Slater Gabriel for Tag belts and Kingston vs. Barrett for IC Title). Everyone hopes for the faces to get the win, but it's not always the case. I'm calling for Barrett to once again pin Kofi to end it.
Winners: The Corre
Match 4: Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes
Rhodes has been drawing a lot of heat since donning the mask, and he's looking stronger than ever, but can he beat Mr. 619? This will be a back-and-forth match, with at least one 619 reversed or missed, and some dirty tactics by Cody will lead to the Cross Rhodes for the victory.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
Match 5: United States Championship: Sheamus (c) vs. Daniel Bryan (w/ Gail Kim)
I think the main reason Bryan lost the belt was to get it back at Wrestlemania, but I could be wrong. This match will be the American Dragon's shining moment of his WWE career so far, and while Sheamus has the brute strength, Bryan has the technical skills to dethrone the King of the Ring. LaBell Lock forces the Celtic Warrior to tap.
Winner (and new U.S. Champion): Daniel Bryan
Match 6: Randy Orton vs. CM Punk
After weeks of back-and-forth action between these two rivals, it all comes to a head tonight. Orton has taken out every member of the New Nexus except the leader, and Punk is looking for revenge not just for his fallen teammates, but for himself from two years ago. Look for Husky Harris to return tonight (he is the only one not officially banned from ringside) and botch an interference that leads to an RKO for the win and Harris pulling Punk out just before an attempted punt.
Winner: Randy Orton
Match 7: World Heavyweight Championship: Edge (c) (w/ Christian) vs. Alberto Del Rio (w/ Brodus Clay)
Before you assume Del Rio will win, keep in mind only seven out of the last 10 Rumble winners won the belt at Wrestlemania, so it's not a lock. What leads to the win may not be inside the ring, but outside. I believe Del Rio will lock in the armbar, but Christian taking out Clay and/or Rodriguez will cause Del Rio to release the hold and focus on Captain Charisma, only to turn around and eat a Spear for Edge to retain.
Winner (and still World Champion): Edge
Match 8: No Holds Barred: Triple H vs. The Undertaker
After the events on Raw, fans have wondered if the newly-inducted Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels may play a part in how this match ends. Think back to Wrestlemania 21 when it looked like "Cowboy" Bob Orton's legendary cast looked like Undertaker would go 12-1, only to go the other way for the Legend Killer. HBK may come in and put down either Helmsley or Taker with Sweet Chin Music, but that won't end the match. Regardless, Taker goes to 19-0 tonight. By the way, how come WWE never mentioned their Wrestlemania X-7 match?
Winner: The Undertaker
Match 9: WWE Championship: The Miz (c) vs. John Cena
This match will make top three in best performances of the event. There are a lot of questions to the match, like, "Can Miz cleanly defeat Cena?", "Will Cena win the big one at Wrestlemania again?" and the biggest one, "What role will The Rock play in this match?". We all know that The Rock will have some kind of involvement, whether during or following the match, but we don't know how it will happen. My thoughts? Cena extends his Wrestlemania singles undefeated streak by reclaiming the WWE title, only for The Rock to feed him a Rock Bottom and a People's Elbow for his comments.
Winner (and new WWE Champion): John Cena
Now, in addition to my match predictions, I have some other questions/predictions as to what will happen at the event:
Will we see the breakup of LayCool?
Will the anonymous RAW GM be revealed?
With JR making an appearance tonight, will he get involved with the Cole/Lawler match?
Will The Rock officially return to action tonight?
We'll find out in about three and a half hours, as WWE Wrestlemania XXVII comes to us live from Atlanta!
