Was there really another way?
John Cena vs. The Miz was about much more than just the match. From the moment the bell rang the rest of the world waiting for the Rock. After all you can’t promise to bring pain to Cena on Twitter and then not deliver.
Even as the Miz went to work on Cena early the crowd watched with baited breathed. “When would the Rock arrive?”
The showdown was about the biggest stars of the WWE past, present and future.
And just before the Wrestlemania 27 ended on a count out the Rock came out and did what we all thought he would do.
He screwed John Cena out of the WWE Championship.
But first he restarted the match and made it a no disqualification before hitting Cena with a Rock Bottom.
It’s what we all expected and the only way to appropriately pay Cena back for weeks of dragging his name through the mud.
What this really does is set up the next move. With the Rock scheduled to appear at Raw tomorrow night you can bet that John Cena will be looking for vengeance. The question is when will he get it?
There’s no question Vince McMahon wants this to go on forever, but it’s more likely he’ll have to decide if he wants to build a program over the next couple of months, or if he wants to drag it out until SummerSlam.
But the Rock isn’t looking that far ahead. He got a chance to do what he wanted to do. He got to put a beating on Cena, and he did.
It’s Cena’s move now. No doubt he will respond in kind.
This is just starting to get interesting.
