All I can say is, finally!
This is my Christmas, birthday and thanksgiving all rolled into one.
This is Masters week. I live for this week.
Before this week, I do not care about tournament golf. Sure, I write about it and pay attention but up until this point it means nothing to me.
Mark Wilson won the Sony Open in Hawaii! Yawn.
Jhonnattan Vegas won the Bob Hope Classic! I could not care less.
And while when Tiger played my interest in golf raised considerably, my interest level was still right above none.
But now the Masters commercials have begun! I can already smell the azaleas!
The week starts out with the Par 3 Contest.
This is where all the players bring their children and wives. They put their kids in miniature caddie uniforms and let them run amok on the course.
It is golf's version of bring your child to work day. If that is not lovable, you must not have soul.
From there it is time to delve into game's rich tradition.
Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer hit ceremonial drives to begin the tournament. Watching two golf legends begin a tournament is amongst the greatest things one can witness.
And once the two legends hit their drives?
Well, now the fun really starts.
The next four days are filled with the most entertaining golf you will see all year.
You'll see players who are so in awe with their surroundings they forget to actually play golf.
You'll see players who for four days are in complete control of their games.
You'll see players who are poised to win until they reach Amen Corner.
And then you'll see one player who raises his hands in triumph, knowing he will always have a green jacket waiting for him in the Augusta National locker room.
The Masters is here.
Get ready. Get set. Get excited.
