What a throw down by Willie Green of the New Orleans Hornets!
Green dropped 12 points in the 95-91 win, and was a key player off the bench.
The best part is the announcer just barely speaking and then shouting when he sees what a thunderous dunk Green just had. The put-back slam got everyone excited as the Hornets were extending their fourth quarter lead with style.
How can you not get pumped after a dunk like that?
Green averages eight points in just 22 minutes per game this season. He's been known to go on runs of hot nights before, scoring anywhere from 15 to 25 points a game. He has a great shot, but two games without any points this month has hurt his percentages.
Green has been providing great moments this season for the Hornets coming off the bench helping his team fight for wins. The Hornets are currently tied for sixth place in the Western Conference and if the season ended today they would play the Dallas Mavericks.
Without David West, the Hornets really don't stand much of a chance against anyone in the playoffs. They could win a game or two, but certainly not the whole series.
With this victory the Hornets won the season series against the Trail Blazers, which is great because Portland is the team New Orleans is currently tied with. The Hornets know they can beat the bottom half of the Western Conference, but they've struggled with the elite teams.
Stuck in a division with the Spurs and the Mavericks, the Hornets are never going to get anywhere unless they surround Chris Paul with more talent. There aren't that many games remaining in the season, meaning the Hornets need to be thinking about their offseason plans.
They'll be sent home after the first round of the playoffs, so it's just a good idea to go ahead and prepare for the offseason now.
