New Orleans Saints

Sedrick Ellis Out Two to Four Weeks

Bleacher ReportAnalyst IOctober 3, 2008

After having his knee scoped today, New Orleans Saints rookie defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis is expected to be out for two to four weeks. The surgery was administered after Ellis left practice early Thursday after tearing the medial meniscus in his right knee.

The rookie out of USC has started all four of the regular season games and the absence of his presence will certainly be felt when the Saints meet the Minnesota Vikings Monday night in a nationally televised game.

The meniscus is a shock-absorbing cartilage in the middle of the knee. There are two menisci: one on the inside ("medial") and another on the outside of the knee ("lateral"), according to http://www.jointhealing.com.
