Brock Lesnar vs. Junior dos Santos: TUF 13 on Spike TV—Brock Belongs
“They say he didn’t belong in the UFC.” Well, technically speaking, “they” were right—I’m a Brock Lesnar fan, but he really did NOT have the combat credentials to gain entry at first. I think even his most loyal supporters would admit the Vanilla Gorilla was sort of gifted a spot in the organization by virtue of his pro wrestling traction and past athletic exploits.
What goes without saying is the fact that Lesnar made more than good on his free pass.
He took out some legitimate competitors in Heath “The Texas Crazy Horse” Herring, Randy “The Natural” Couture, Frank Mir and Shane Carwin before running into his first serious speed bump by the name of Cain Velasquez.
Now, he’s doing what every real gladiator must do eventually—pick himself up after a thorough defeat and prove his talents go beyond the physical. Whether he succeeds remains to be seen, but simply the effort proves the big man belongs.
